12. DISADVANTAGES OF USING INTERNET
The disadvantages of the Internet are more important for
people in many ways. To begin with, if people spend too much time
on the Internet, it causes physical problems in time. To illustrate,
because Internet users sit in front of the computer in the same
position for a long time, they may suffer from minor health problems
such as backache, weight gain or poor eyesight. Another
disadvantage is that the Internet can create social problems. To be
more specific, if people spend too much time on some social network
sites such as Facebook and Twitter, they will meet new people online
and send e-mails, photos or instant messages to each other instead
of meeting face to face. They prefer to stay in touch with friends
online, but this may cause isolation in time. Last but not least, there
are safety issues. That is, people that we meet on the Internet may
not be trustworthy and also materials and resources which we
download may not be reliable or legal. All things considered, the
disadvantages of the use of the Internet outweigh its advantages in
terms of physical, social, and safety issues. Therefore, everyone
should be careful about this and limit the time they spend online!
