3. 1. Introduction
It’s undisputable that a feasibility study plays a major role in
a decision making process before or during a business
activities. It also helps companies to be aware of both;
the impact of the Environmental factors on the project
activities
and the risks or challenges that need to be evaluate in
order to make a back up plan by controlling and providing
solutions that will surely leads to a significant results at
the closing phase of the project
4. 2. OBJECTIVES
• To ascertain the Environmental structural
factors that influence the business’s
operation (chocolate factory operation).
5. 3. Defining feasibility study
• A feasibility study is an analysis and evaluation
of a proposed project to determine if it is
technical feasible with the estimated cost and
also if the proposed project is profitable
according to the money invested.
• Feasibility studies are mostly conduct when
there is a large amount at sake.
6. 4. Environmental Feasibility study of
chocolate factory in Cote d’Ivoire (example)
Will the Environment stands the business activities ?
Constructing a factory may asks for a lot of research especially to ascertain the
impact of the factory operation activities on the environment.
S THE POSSIBLE NEGATIVE IMPACT ON THE ENVIRONMENT
Environmental stress
Environmental risk
Deforestation
7. S THE POSSIBLE NEGATIVE IMPACT ON THE ENVIRONMENT
ENVIRONMENTAL STRESS
High degree of pressure on the environment caused by the
factory activities such as generation of pollution and impacting
those who are not involved in the activities ( nearby residents)
ENVIRONMENTAL RISK
Actual or potential threat of adverse effect on living organisms
by effluents, emissions, wastes, resource depletion arising out
of the factory operation activity
8. S THE POSSIBLE NEGATIVE IMPACT ON THE ENVIRONMENT
DEFORESTATION ( forest and agriculture)
The factory main activities which is producing chocolate depends
on the Coco agriculture that need to be available in a very large
quantity in order to produce more by minimizing cost and
maximizing profits. For that reason farmers aimed at extending
their farms causing deforestation.
deforestation causes
Cattle farms
agricultural
exploitation
Fire, construction,
roads, barrages
Others
9. Today we all know the global challenges (negative impact of climate
change) that the hole world is facing and it’s our responsibility to
stop everything that could represents a risk to our environment
meaning the business holders should take into consideration both;
Environment sanitation; activities aimed at improving and
maintaining the standard basic environmental conditions affecting
well-being or people.
Environment sustainability; the maintenance of factors and
practices that contribute to the quality of environment on the long-term
basis.
