2. WHAT IS THIS SHOW ABOUT ANYWAY
It takes place in a world populated by humans
and “benders,” a group of people who are
capable of manipulating certain elements.
There’s Fire, Earth, Water, and Air. There are
four nations built around these elements. The
Fire Nation, the Water Tribes, the Earth
Kingdom, and the Air Nomads.
Each person can only manipulate one type of
element, but the Avatar, a living embodiment of
balance, can manipulate all four. Each time the
Avatar dies, they are reincarnated.
3. WHAT THIS SHOW IS ABOUT CONT.
The show takes place following the genocide of
the Air Nomads, the people capable of
manipulating air. The last Avatar was said to be
amongst them, but he has not been seen since
the genocide. While the Avatar has been
missing, the Fire Nation has become corrupt
and takes over everything and oppresses
people.
The show starts with the discovery of Aang, the
last airbender and the current Avatar. He has to
learn to master all the elements and defeat the
evil ruler of the Fire Nation.

8. Kat says:
“It’s a kids show, but isn’t afraid to lay out the
facts. People die. Aang is faced with saving the
world, and he does what any kid does when they
face responsibility; runs away. And he faces the
consequences of that.”
