2. Goals for the project ● Set up a functional website with an easy to remember name ● Consult with the President of the group about the website ● Put current information on the website ● Tell people who are in the group about the website ● Update information on Mondays to let people know what is going on for the upcoming week ● Update the website when new information is available ● Sleep and repeat

3. Main reason for choosing to design a website for an organization By a show of hands how many of you are on some sort of listserv or mass email list? Does it look something like this?

7. First obstacle was getting people to the site. I sent out a mass email to the listserv notifying people that the site was up and running. To get them to show up I posted with the title “Free stuff for Veterans”. That post is still the most viewed on the site.

9. Screen shot from the last slide... What does that mean? For the purpose of the project people like free stuff. The three spikes were associated with news about things that were going to be given away either for Veterans or in the case of Black Friday good deals. If you don't post anything new, as shown in the dips, people will not come to your site.

10. Lessons learned from the project People like reading about how to get free stuff. (Remember the KFC grilled chicken debacle caused by Oprah?)‏ Researching takes longer than you think. (It took a few hours to find nine things that could apply to group members.)‏ Always follow up when people promise you something. (The banner took five days of emails to get the picture and only 30 seconds to upload and crop it.)‏ It is hard to stick to one form of writing but it looks better when you do. (There are many ways of writing 7:00PM but sticking to one way helps the reader.)‏ Writing consistently, whether it is daily or weekly, is hard but pays off in the end. Projects are easier when you WANT to do them. Whenever possible I suggest you pick a topic you like. Have an appropriate and easy to remember website. humv.worpress.com is easy to remember and is appropriate for the group.
