This work describes the application of semantic wikis in distant learning for Semantic Web courses. The resulting system focuses its application of existing and new wiki technology in making a wiki-based interface that demonstrates Semantic Web features. A new layer of wiki technology, called “OWL Wiki Forms” is introduced for this Semantic Web functionality in the wiki interface. This new functionality includes a form-based interface for editing Semantic Web ontologies. The wiki then includes appropriate data from these ontologies to extend existing wiki RDF export. It also includes ontology-driven creation of data entry and browsing interfaces for the wiki itself. As a wiki, the system provides the student an educational tool that students can use anywhere while still sharing access with the instructor and, optionally, other students. Lloyd Rutledge and Rineke Oostenrijk. Applying and Extending Semantic Wikis for Semantic Web Courses, In: Proceedings of the 1st International Workshop on eLearning Approaches for the Linked Data Age (Linked Learning 2011) at the 8th Extended Semantic Web Conference (ESWC 2011), Heraklion, Greece, May 29th, 2011. http://sunsite.informatik.rwth-aachen.de/Publications/CEUR-WS/Vol-717/paper9.pdf

To facilitate data sharing from within the University of California system and beyond, the University of California Curation Center (UC3) is developing a new ingest and discovery layer for our data curation service, Dash. Dash uses the Merritt repository for preservation and a self-service overlay layer for submission and discovery of research datasets. The new overlay– dubbed Stash (STore And SHare)– will feature an enhanced user interface with a simple and intuitive deposit workflow, while still accommodating rich metadata. Stash will enable individual scholars to upload data through local file browse or drag-and-drop operation; describe data in terms of scientifically-meaning metadata, including methods, references, and geospatial information; identify datasets for persistent citation and retrieval; preserve and share data in an appropriate repository; and discover, retrieve, and reuse data through faceted search and browse. Stash can be implemented in conjunction with any standards-compliant repository that supports the SWORD protocol for deposit and the OAI-PMH protocol for metadata harvesting. Stash will feature native support for the DataCite or Dublin Core metadata schemas, but is designed to accommodate other schemas to support discipline-specific applications. By alleviating many of the barriers that have historically precluded wider adoption of open data principles, Stash empowers individual scholars to assert active curation control over their research outputs; encourages more widespread data preservation, publication, sharing, and reuse; and promotes open scholarly inquiry and advancement.

Publicly available NASA satellite imagery hosted on NASA Langley Research Center's web servers are relied upon for analysis by atmospheric scientists. Because the data is hosted in a single location, any downtime, data loss, or latency is reliant on a single point of failure. Data redundancy would assist in dissemination of this data but it would then be necessary to ensure that updated versions of the data or fresh data from the same domain remain related with the original data. In this work, I borrow on technologies from other domains of digital preservation and data distribution to allow the progressively growing corpus of imagery at NASA to be harvested and made available on a peer-to-peer basis using facets of the frameworks behind ResourceSync, BitTorrent, and WebRTC.

This paper surveys the landscape of linked open data projects in cultural heritage, exam- ining the work of groups from around the world. Traditionally, linked open data has been ranked using the five star method proposed by Tim Berners-Lee. We found this ranking to be lacking when evaluating how cultural heritage groups not merely develop linked open datasets, but find ways to used linked data to augment user experience. Building on the five-star method, we developed a six-stage life cycle describing both dataset development and dataset usage. We use this framework to describe and evaluate fifteen linked open data projects in the realm of cultural heritage.

Building and maintaining thesauri are complex and laborious tasks. PoolParty is a Thesaurus Management Tool (TMT) for the Semantic Web, which aims to support the creation and maintenance of thesauri by utilizing Linked Open Data (LOD), text-analysis and easy-to-use GUIs, so thesauri can be managed and utilized by domain experts without needing knowledge about the semantic web. Some aspects of thesaurus management, like the editing of labels, can be done via a wiki-style interface, allowing for lowest possible access barriers to contribution.

Created by Mozilla Research in 2012 and now part of Linux Foundation Europe, the Servo project is an experimental rendering engine written in Rust. It combines memory safety and concurrency to create an independent, modular, and embeddable rendering engine that adheres to web standards. Stewardship of Servo moved from Mozilla Research to the Linux Foundation in 2020, where its mission remains unchanged. After some slow years, in 2023 there has been renewed activity on the project, with a roadmap now focused on improving the engine’s CSS 2 conformance, exploring Android support, and making Servo a practical embeddable rendering engine. In this presentation, Rakhi Sharma reviews the status of the project, our recent developments in 2023, our collaboration with Tauri to make Servo an easy-to-use embeddable rendering engine, and our plans for the future to make Servo an alternative web rendering engine for the embedded devices industry. Terragrunt, Terraspace, Terramate, terra... whatever. What is wrong with Terraform so people keep on creating wrappers and solutions around it? How OpenTofu will affect this dynamic? In this presentation, we will look into the fundamental driving forces behind a zoo of wrappers. Moreover, we are going to put together a wrapper ourselves so you can make an educated decision if you need one.

With more memory available, system performance of three Dell devices increased, which can translate to a better user experience Conclusion When your system has plenty of RAM to meet your needs, you can efficiently access the applications and data you need to finish projects and to-do lists without sacrificing time and focus. Our test results show that with more memory available, three Dell PCs delivered better performance and took less time to complete the Procyon Office Productivity benchmark. These advantages translate to users being able to complete workflows more quickly and multitask more easily. Whether you need the mobility of the Latitude 5440, the creative capabilities of the Precision 3470, or the high performance of the OptiPlex Tower Plus 7010, configuring your system with more RAM can help keep processes running smoothly, enabling you to do more without compromising performance.
