As Head of the Corporate Finance Division, I carry out due diligence and situational analysis of companies,
review their financial structure to assess their needs, assist them in building an adapted financial model in line
with the corporate strategic orientation. If need be, I accompany them when negotiating with banks for debt
restructuring. My portfolio of activities also include SME mentoring and capacity building with objective to assist
them to grow and become financially more resilient. We also assist our Insolvency Practitioner in assignments as

Convener I led a team of 8 qualified personnel mainly economists, graduates in banking and accountancy. Our focus was to
financially assisting companies with growth potential within the service and manufacturing sectors more
importantly SMEs having difficulty to get further credit facilities from financial institutions. Our appraisal
involved review of the credit standing of the applicant, analyse their efficiency taking into account their business
environment so as to understand causes of their failure/ financial distress and recommend appropriate remedial
measures. In order to have an independent view, we called upon Independent Financial Analysts (IFA) for their
independent recommendations. Our findings along with the IFA report were then discussed at a stakeholders’
meeting comprising of Committee Members of RWG, lending institutions and the applicant. Once validated, a
term sheet was signed by all parties before implementation.
The RWG Committee was a joint public and private sector initiative set up with main objective to avoid collapse
and job losses for growing cash poor companies having difficulty to have access to finance. All financial
instruments were devised in consultation with industry associations namely the Joint Economic Council, the
Mauritius Bankers Association, Association of Leasing Companies, Mauritius Export Association and Mauritius
Chamber of Commerce and Industry and included debenture and/or preference share issue, import loan
guarantees, micro financing, export credit insurance, credit financing under factoring and finance leases
complemented with those provided by banks, leasing companies and other institutions.
