  1. Specific Purpose: To inform my audience about strategies to using coupons and saving money. Central Idea: Using coupons doesn’t have to be a major project if you don’t want it to be, it can be a fun experience and a money saving one as well.
  2. In the 19 th Century the Coca-Cola company decided to use coupons to promote the new invention. This is a picture of one of the first coupons produced and used it entitled each customer to a free glass of coca-cola soda.
  3. Clipping coupons can save shoppers hundreds if not thousands per year buy using coupons. I have personally saved $170 on a $243.00 grocery bill. My food pantry is stocked with everything I need plus more. This year I have decided to put whatever money I save at the grocery store in a separate account and my family will be able to go on a Florida vacation next summer. Using coupons is a great way to save money.
  4. This slide gives an overall idea of what and how many other things coupons can be used for. Coupons can be used to shop at restaurants for air line tickets anything that you need if you research correctly you can find a coupon for that item.
  5. Although coupons require time and organization it doesn’t have to be a major project, technology has made this task a little simpler for us. Some tips to make coupon saving easier. Start small, just clip the coupons you know you need. Organize, try to organize by expiration date or location in the store. Start a price book to keep track of in store prices. Check manufacturers websites to see what coupons they have available. Use your coupons towards items that are currently on sale to get additional savings.
  6. This slide gives the audience a simple break down of the amount of coupons used in previous years and the amount that are expected to be used in years to come.
  7. This slide represents a simple pie chart showing the audience how many families actually save money and in what different areas they do so. Grocery stores get more coupons than any other business at this time, then online purchases and in store retail.
  8. Coupons are available in different dollar amount, they can be doubled and some supermarkets offer triple coupons a few times a year. This is a great way to stock up on great items. Coupons can be found in the Sunday Paper, by mail, online, in-store coupons and magazines. Coupons can also sometimes be found the items at the store and used at the time of purchase. If an item is $1.99 and you have a coupon for .55 cent off that item and the coupon is doubled at the store so that is $1.10 cent off of that $1.99 item which means you only pay .89 cent for that item and you can purchase as many of that item that you would like but you need a coupon for each of that item that you purchase.
  9. In this slide I talk briefly about some things that may frustrate you when trying to use a coupon, I also give a way to try and limit the frustration by contact the store first.
