first being formulated and when SIETAR (the Society for
Intercultural Education, Training and Research) was first being
formed.” Her dissertation (1982) was based on 192 life
histories (most of them autobiographies) of Native-, African-,
Hispanic and Asian-Americans; the dissertation focused on
identifying effective multi-cultural coping strategies.”
