This document discusses the genre of Britpop music. It identifies key magazines associated with Britpop like NME and Mojo. Some conventions of Britpop included using the Union Jack logo and colors of blue, white and red while being influenced by past British guitar music. Britpop bands focused on writing their own material, playing instruments themselves, and singing in British accents while referencing British culture in lyrics. The target audience of Britpop included British young people, working class, and those interested in classic British bands from the 1960s/70s. However, the emphasis on British culture made it difficult for Britpop bands to achieve success in the United States.
