Definitions:
Collaboration- “the process of working jointly on an activity or project”
Synchronous- happens when everyone works together on an activity or project, at
the same time. (example: Meebo chat).
Asynchronous- happens in stages, such as when people work at different times on
the same activity or project. (example: Google Docs).
Cloud computing- other organizations’ servers are being used to hold data
Cloud computing provider- any company that runs many servers that are available
for either direct use, or use as a part of an application
Groupware- software packages designed to help groups collaborate.
External Groupware- groupware hosted by an outside company.
Internal Groupware- groupware that is hosted within a company.
