for Oakmont District Enhancements
The HPED is an organization formed with the cooperation of the Board of
Commissioners to foster and advance the interests of the business community
in Haverford Township, including the improvement of public spaces in the
business districts.
History of organization – (summarize)
We have been before the BOC a few times in the past months to coordinate
streetscape amenities for the Township business districts.
The feedback we received was that the BOC would rather we concentrate our
efforts in one or two areas for more of an impact.

The Oakmont District is the most logical next step:
A comprehensive plan has already been approved by the Township for the
Oakmont Business District and Eagle Road corridor (2008)
The YMCA, as part of its land development plan, has proposed traffic
mitigation infrastructure improvements to the Darby/Eagle intersection
The Oakmont Parking Lot has been included in the capital budget and
construction is scheduled to begin this spring
The Township received Act 129 rebates from PECO to fund decorative
lighting from the parking lot along Darby Road and Eagle Road to East Darby
Road
Other Districts (Brookline lot, Manoa and WC Pike) have already had
improvements in recent years
The 2013 U.S. Open will bring more traffic and business to this area, being
the closest business district to the course

We request that the Township consider our offer to match funds for brick pavers
edging the curbs of Darby and Eagle in this area.
A trench will already be cut for the wiring to the new lighting. Estimate to
pour concrete back in the trenches @ $10/sq. ft.
The cost for brick pavers is $15/sq.ft.
We propose to raise the funds for a 50/50 match of the difference between
the two.
We have verbal and written commitments from many property owners in the
district. Fund raising will also take place among residents Township-wide.
