First impressions after using an iPad

1. My impressions after my first hands on with an iPad.
Very sleek looking device that provides a whole new web browsing experience. Nice sync up with your
iPhone allows you to easily use all the great apps you had been using on your iPhone. Bigger and
better(?) you could say. Apple's UI experience has always been the best and it is no different with iPad
with a very responsive touch screen. iBook store does not exactly provide the same reading experience
as a Kindle but it is still easy on the eyes and the graphics & colors provides a rich reading experience
(especially for magazines). iPad weighs a little heavier than I imagined. So it might be convenient to put
it on one's lap or place over a desk when working for a longer duration rather than trying to hold it using
your hand. Looks like Apple does not allow screen protectors as of now for the iPads. So make sure you
carry a cleaning cloth along to remove finger impressions. :) Don't be surprised if your website looks a
little different on the iPad. Safari on iPad seems to have a slightly different rendering compared to a
normal Safari browser on your Mac or Pc. I guess they must have customized the browser for iPads or
perhaps it was that way even with the iPhone but not visible at that size. It might not be the magical
device that Apple purports it to be but it is certainly open up a game changing category of devices.
Tablets were tried in the past but faded out but this time around the wireless and computing evolution
over the recent years provide all the ingredients necessary for iPad‐like devices to flourish. Don't be
surprised if you see business executives in your organization carrying one such device around soon.
iPad‐like devices also have the potential to revolutionize academic experience for students and
professors. Let's see how the next set of Android, Windows and other tablet devices fare in the next few
months. I don't see a compelling reason for me to carry a tablet device yet but it seems to have the
potential to become the de facto device gradually replacing note books/laptops/net books over time.
