in the UK, which a popular song
called “Hold Back The River” became
#2 in the UK.
James Bay’s Genre
The Genre James Bay songs are is
mainly Indie/Alternative Rock. This is
a genre we want to focus on as a
group.
James Bay’s Star Image
James Bay is an organic artist, who spent hours in his bedroom
practising his music. His success started when a fan uploaded a video
of him performing to YouTube, and a record label signed him. His
first EP was released in 2013 and a year later he had his own tour.
James’ image is shown as edgy and seen as a organic artist through the
traditional song writing.
3. NARRATIVE #1
INITIAL IDEA
Group of friends -> All seem to get good grades, without trying
apart from the girl with the fake smile.
This girl with the fake smile tried hard but never gets her friends
success -> she has to put on a fake smile pretending she’s happy for
them when really she wishes it was her and that she’s happy with how
she’s doing.
4. NARRATIVE #2
CHOSEN GROUP IDEA
Characters : Boyfriend and Girlfriend (The girl with fake smile and the singer.)
The girl at school keeps a secret from her friends about her boyfriend. The girl knows her friends
disapprove of her boyfriend and make fun of him.
In private locations away from the school environment boy and girl are together and spent a lot of
time together.
At school friends disapprove of the singer and the girl friend puts a fake smile on and agrees with
friends about the boy.
Girl at school is portrayed as being above everyone, by wearing the latest trend and not caring about
what people say and doesn’t care what people say about her boyfriend .
When at home she wears no make up and dresses much more relaxed in a track suit when around her
boy friend (Who she makes fun of with her friends.)
