2. Embedding What is Embedding ? Finding Resources to Embed Creating Resources to Embed
3. Embedding Embedding is when you insert a document of one type into a document of another type.
4. Embedding An example would be when you insert a spreadsheet into a word processing document.
5.
6. Embedding Within like-programs, such as those within Microsoft Office, the ability to embed is relatively easy because the programs have a shared development basis. With tens of thousands of programs, the inter-operability is not nearly as friendly.
7. Embedding As we know, the World Wide Web has allowed for a common “platform” where documents of all types – papers, slideshows, videos, etc - can be accessed by everyone, instead of being housed on one’s own computer.
8. Embedding Embedding on the WWW is about sharing. Prior to Web 2.0 developments, if you wanted to access a resource – video, presentation, etc. you either had to have it sent to you, via an email....

11. Embedding Or, you searched...and found links...and then clicked on a link... and waited....and waited for a document to download to your computer...and then you opened it up...and... Get the picture ?
12. Embedding Embedding on the web (in a fashion similar to the spreadsheet embedded in the word document) allows objects to be “gathered” in one place and presented in a manner that gives the viewer an easier-to-handle representation of the source document.
13. Embedding Did that sound too wordy ? Here is a screenshot of a PowerPoint slideshow and a PDF document displayed in a wiki using the embed code.

16. Embedding Embedding It is computer code that is used to place a document (such as a slideshow or video) into another document (such as a blog, a wiki or a website) as you have seen.
20. Embedding Here is the actual Embed code for the video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9woqSaAYcIk <object width="500" height="405"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/9woqSaAYcIk&hl=en_US&fs=1&color1=0x006699&color2=0x54abd6&border=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src=" http://www.youtube.com/v/9woqSaAYcIk &hl=en_US&fs=1&color1=0x006699&color2=0x54abd6&border=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="500" height="405"></embed></object>
22. Embedding The key is to find the Embed code which is related to the resource that you wish to embed in your blog or wiki. You simply copy it and then paste it into your blog or wiki in the appropriate spot.
23. Embedding Sometimes, the term Widget is used to define the mechanism by which the object is embedded into the blog or wiki.
25. Embedding Embeditin http://embedit.in A Web 2.0 tool that allows for many file types to be turned into objects that can be embedded. It also allows for many options when creating the embed code.
