How To Add Your Business Information to Best of the Web

2. Step 1: Open up a browsing window and go to https://local.botw.org/secure/signup.aspx?
type=jumpstart. You will be prompted to select either you are a new customer or you
already have a BOTW account, the default is you are a new customer. Click on the
Continue button to begin.

3. Step 2a: Referring to your NAP document, enter in your business information in the
appropriate fields, Once completed, scroll further down the page to and go to step 2b.

4. Step 2b: Enter in your email address and a password that you will remember, and before
clicking on the “Complete Sign Up and Start Building Your Listing” button, make sure to
check the box that says you agree to the Best of the Web terms and service and there
Privacy Policy. Once checked, click on the big orange button to continue.

5. Step 3a: The first step in creating your listing with Best of the Web is selecting the best
possible category possible for your business. This can be tricky for some and very easy for
others. I find it best to simply click on the little link titled “Can’t find your category?” This link
will prompt a little search box on your screen and black everything else out. Enter in your
primary business type until you find the one that best fits your business type. The goal for
this portion of the listing process is to get the best category possible for your business. In
the about section, copy and paste the small description from your NAP document, then go to
step 3b.

6. Step 3b: In the products and services section, enter in your keywords and/or services
separated by a comma. Referencing your NAP document, add your Facebook page URL,
Twitter handle, LinkedIn URL, and your Google Places ID #. To find your Google Places ID
#, open a new window or tab and go to places.google.com. Log in and you will be taken to
your Business Listing dashboard. Towards the upper right hand corner of the page there is
a View link, click on it to be taken to your live Google Places listing (now Google+ Local). In
the URL of your business listing you will see https://plus.google.com/(followed by a lot of
numbers)/about?gl=us&hl=en. The numbers in the URL is your Google Places ID. Copy it
and enter it into the field on Best of the Web. When done, click on the Continue button.

7. Step 4: Enter in your company’s year of establishment, the number of PHYSICAL locations
that you have, and how many employees work for your company. When finished, click on
the I’m Done. List my business now! button.

8. Step 5: That is all you can do for now. In order to get your listing into the BOTW directory,
you will need to confirm your email address. Check your email and click on the link inside
of the email. Then continue to step 6.

9. Step 6: After clicking on the activation email from Best of the Web, you will be taken to a
page that looks like this. Click on the “click here” link to sign into your account.

10. Step 7: On the login page, enter in the email address and password you set while
completing Step 2b. When entered, click on the Log In button.

11. Step 8: This is your BOTW dashboard, to view the status of your listing, click on the Manage
Listings link on the left hand side. To add another listing, click on the Add Another Business
link. Once your listing has been looked at and either approved or not approved, you will get
an email from the BOTW team letting you know.
