Why do we do Project Work?

The Trouble Is….
• I’ve never done it before
• It’s different
• It’s too messy
• I can’t find the materials
• The IWB isn’t working
• Too much Chinese, not enough English
• Students don’t understand what to do
• The students won’t pay attention
• Etc….

• Try out the project yourself before you go to
class.
• Everything will take longer for the students
to do than you think it should!

• If the students are going to make
something, show the students a
finished example.
• If they are supposed to be creative, then show
a range of examples.
• Some will copy the examples while
others will follow the basic idea to
make their own.

• Demonstrate (model) the key steps.
• Break down instructions or steps into small,
comprehensible pieces.

instructions.
