3. Calendar
It’s so important that childrens relate math to
something useful.
With the timetable the kid can count
the days and amounts.
Birthdays are the best motivation for the child
4. Cooking numbers
The understanding of numbers, especially fractions and
conversions play an important role in cooking.
1 cup flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 cup butter
1/3 cup brown sugar
1/3 cup sugar
1 egg
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 cup chocolate chips
When the child completes his recipe should distribute
correctly amounts between the number of guests and
use their ability to divide.
5. Money
The kids must know that they need to give the right amount of money when they buy
something; check that they get back the correct change and give the correct change
when you sell something.
It is important make practical games with the child in
order to learn more easily the value of money and all
they can do with it.
6. Time
Daily we need to place ourselves in time.
With time we can practice fractions through the
figure of the clock and needles.
HOUR
MINUTE
The child will learn to change units while
operating with numbers.
SECOND
7. Geometry everywhere
We often see geometric figures in our daily, our mission is to give importance and
teach the child to look beyond what you see.
If a child paints a octagon we will try to link him
to the traffic signals.
8. Weather
In addition and subtraction the child can calculate how
many days a week will be cold while be informed about the
weather in their city.
On a map of the country we can
calculate many Math’s operation
based on the climate while the
child learn geography.
9. School day count
This routine builds understanding of base-ten place value as students count,
group, write and see numbers attached to the counts in each place.
School Day Count
Repeating this process each day builds
meaning for what each numeral in a 2- or 3digit number represents.
Hundreds
Tens
Ones
10. Conection home-school
It’s very important that the child gets a good education at home
that involve the child in Math in their daily lives, this will make that
he understand and want to know more about them.
Vocabulary is a very important part of any lesson, so try
that parents familiarize their children with words like
count, calculate, more than, less than, half full, empty,
big, small ...
Now, we propose a series of exercises that any parent could use to
educate the child in Math.
11. Daily exercises
1- Ask the child how many steps should be given between the table and the couch.
2- Count how many apples are there for a snack. Count the number of children at the table. If there are 6 apples and
12 children, what should we do?
3- Art: As the children express themselves through art, they can write numbers, explore shapes and sequences or
counting the number of objects you draw.
4- Outdoor play can motivate children to explore mathematical concepts actively.
5- Any fan of dance participates in dramatic play can create your own sequence of steps (stomp, stomp, clap, stomp,
stomp, clap). Invite the children to follow the sequence, asking. ‘Follow!'
6- On the way to school or home, compare the buildings to see. Which building is the tallest? What is the lowest?
7- Pay attention to the sequences of numbers in the houses they pass. Encourage your child to predict what will
result.
12. Conclusion
You just have to stop thinking about any action you made throughout the day
and is very easy to realize that you made some action related to
mathematics.
Maths are the base of all our life and we must teach children from an early
age, not as an enemy but as daily and familiar.
