Science resources
1. Renewable Resources can be
replaced through natural
process. Examples: air, water
and land.
Nonrenewable Resources cannot be
easily replaced. Examples: Minerals
and fossil fuels.
2. Air Resources
The gases in the air are
nitrogen, oxygen and
carbon dioxide. These
gases are renewable, but
air can become polluted
when harmful substances
are released into the air.
Some of these come from
burning of oil and coal.
3. Land Resources
Lands resources include farm
lands, soil, minerals, forests
and wild life. Soil covers much
of earth´s land, it can take a
long time to form and can be
easily eroded by wind and
water. Land provides us with
minerals we use to create
products. Examples:
Iron to make cars and bikes.
Limestone to make cement.
4. Forests
Forests provide us with nuts,
fruits and plants for
medicines. Forests provide a
habitat for many species and
control carbon dioxide in the
all. Trees take in carbon
dioxide and release oxygen
wich we need to breathe.
5. Water Resources
All living things need water to
survive. Water is a renewable
resource that is about 70% of
Earth´s sufface is water
mostly ocean saltwater.
Freshwater makes up only 3%
fo Earth´s water.
6. Ocean Resources
The ocean produces us
with minerals such as
salt, tin, magnesium,
iron and cooper.
Deposits of oil and
natural gas are also
found there.
7. Connections Among Resources
Earth has a plentiful supply of
many resources, but that
supply is affected by human
activity. We need to
understand the connections
among Earth´s resources. A
change to one resource can
cause a change to others.
8. Reducing the Impact
Three Rs
Reduce
*Turn off water when brushing your
teeth.
*Turn out lights when you leave a
room.
*Turn off your computer when not
using it.
Reycle
*Participate in community recycling
programs.
*Buy products made from recycled
materials.
Reuse
*Find new ways to reuse products.
