Les Miserables

   By: Alashia and Bre
“Such is the indifference of
          Heaven”
 Hugo was referring to the
    sky as having indifferent
    characteristics rather than
    being indifferent its self.
This is a type of figurative
    language because it gives
    the sky a human character
    trait which is also referred
    to as personification.
“Javert was like a Tiger in the
           Night”
 Hugo used a simile to
    compare Javert’s behavior.
    He was compared to a
    Tiger because he was
    never seen coming but
    would always find his “prey”
    Jean Valjean where ever he
    was.
“The Lark”
 Hugo used a metaphor to
compare Cosette to a Lark in
    Les Miserables. She was
    helpless and was relying on
    the Thenardier’s to take care
of her but she was turned
    into a servant.
