   Form of Farming
   All, or nearly all, livestock and crops are kept
    to use by farmer
   Historically, people would move from place to
    place and farm
   Modern farming has
    replaced this method
   Products not sold
   Was predominant farming method for
    centuries until colonization and industrial
    revolution
   Remote parts of the world that were not
    converted to commercial farms still adapt this
    method
   Prevent erosion by terraces
   Alternate livestock food to prevent
    overgrazing
   Use animal waste as fertilizer for crops
   Vegetation and soil retention improves soil
    structure and water availability
   Land becomes more productive and able to
    produce food
   Heaving manual labor necessary
   Produce enough food to live on
   May produce more to buy other necessities
   Droughts
   Gradual depletion of nutrients
   Getting essentials that can’t be grown
   Finding enough usable land to produce food
