2. The difference between the Spanish language
and the English language is the placement of
the words as well as many other things.
For example: When we write we would say my
cat is blue and In Spanish it would be Mi gato es
azul.
3. In Español we identify the masculine and feminine plurals and
adjectives, but in English we do not. One great thing about the Spanish
language is that the Spanish language shares some of the same words
that we do. These words include sofa, idea…. Also at some times the
meaning of the Spanish word depends on where it is placed in the
sentence. They miss their country or Miss Brianna is very tall.
4. The English alphabet includes 26 letters while
the Spanish alphabet includes 30. There are
differences in the pronunciation. Periods and
commas are used the same, but exclamation
points go in front of and at the end of a
sentence.
5. If I continue to study the
Spanish language, I hope to
learn to be able to write
essays of information and
eventually become fluent
and be able to sing songs in
Spanish. I want to be able to
go over to a Spanish speaking
country, live with them and
talk like they would, explore
their culture and be able to
live their everyday normal
life in that country.
6. What new countries have you learned about?
I have gotten the opportunity to enhance my
knowledge on many countries and their
cultures Including mexico, Columbia, spain
and more.
7. I have learned that there are different
ways to say a word and that there are
different meanings to a word in other
countries. The foods of these cultures
although all Spanish. Contain unique
elements. Puerto Rican food is
flavourful but not spicy, as opposed to
Mexican food contains hot and spicy
flavour.
8. surprising facts:
Their music and food are so
different from ours. There are
so many types of styles of
music. I thought that they dress
the same way we do, but they
have different outfits based on
what country they are in…….
9. differences between Spanish-speaking
culture and my own… In the Spanish
speaking countries the atmosphere is
relaxed and not as busy as an English
Speaking Culture. I think that the
Spanish Speaking Culture is great and
care more about family and living life,
and spending time with those that really
matter, unlike the English Speaking
Culture who care so much about worldly
things including jobs, this economy.
Also in the Spanish Culture they have
bull fighting which in the English
Culture it would be considered animal
abuse.
10. Ideas/stereotypes about Spanish-speaking culture
that I had before this course that have now changed
because of what I have learned.
Nothing changed from my point of view of the
Spanish speaking countries. I knew that they had
similarities and differences from us culturally as
well as what we eat, wear and how they speak. I
knew that the speed of how they talked was at a
much faster pace.
11. The one thing I loved about this online class was the flexibility to do my work at my own pace.
I do not learn a different language at the same pace as other students. I loved how there were
vocab words to learn before every unit. One thing that helped me learn was reading the
directions, it was in Spanish and English, that way I could learn and understand at the same
time. I liked how there were many assignments and many opportunities to always keep
improving my grade. My teacher was awesome and would answer any questions that I had.
One thing I enjoyed was the different aspects of learning that was involved in this course.
There were listening assignments, writing, speaking and my favourite one, Projects. It
incorporated all skills of learning so all students can do their best in all of the areas. I liked how
we could communicate with our classmates at any time quickly through messages.
12. To improve my learning I believe that there should have been
some assignments that were not graded, but just critiqued to see
what I need to improve on it. Sometimes there were too many
assignments to complete within a week; it was a little bit
overwhelming at some points. This course was fast paced, to
improve my learning they could have gone at a steady pace. I
learn by trial, doing something over and over again till I get it.
There should have been more multiple attempts on assignments
to grasp the topic of what we were learning about. If we fly by
stuff then we only retain that information for so long, or for the
week. Next time, I think there should be an online notebook
where we can write notes from each unit online and have
interactive listening and writing journals to do daily.
13. My professor was amazing. He
would always respond to all of
my messages, and I ask a lot of
questions. He would have a
positive attitude about this
course, post tools to help us
learn daily and would comment
on anything that I needed to
work on. He would post
reminders of what was due and
have extra credit assignments
which helped my grade as well as
helped me understand different
Spanish topics! I am so happy I
was able to have him as a
teacher. I have learned so much
in this course!
14. I learned how to say how many
floors do you have in your house?
¿Cuántos pisos tiene tu casa?
15. I learned how to say that I am
going to see the doctor.
voy a la clínica y el doctor me
examina.
16. I learned how to say that a girl has a cold, in case
one of my friends has a cold.
La mujer tiene un resfriado.
17. I learned how to say that they went to the
restaurant.
Ellos fueron al restaurante.
18. I learned how to say that
someone is from New York.
Él es de Nueva York.
