This KWL chart was created on Kidspiration. Teachers will hand out this chart at the beginning of the unit and allow students to fill in the first and second box about what they already know about counting coins and what they want to learn. They can draw pictures illustrating their knowledge of what the worth of certain coins/ dollars are or anything that will help cue them into understanding the material. This will allow them to see everything in an organized way and will also allow the teacher to see it in an organized way for each student so they can get a better understanding of students prior knowledge and plan from there. It also allows them the option to include both words and visuals. After the unit is over, the students will fill in the last box and describe what they have learned about counting coins using words and visuals. The students and the teacher will make sure that they have answered everything that they wanted to learn.
