3. Standards-Based Assessment
Brittany develops assessments in all subject areas
that are standards based.
All lessons include an assessment component,
whether formal or informal, to determine
student mastery of the standards targeted by
the particular lesson.

evidenced by performance on
assessments.
5. Assessment Feedback
Students’ in-progress work is
assessed and Brittany provides
feedback. This helps students to
get on the right track, develop
finished work that is of higher
quality, and reach a deeper level
of standards mastery and
comprehension of content.
6. Assessment Driven Planning
Brittany’s grade team meets weekly to plan for instruction. In
doing so, the look at current assessment results. This lets them
know what direction and format their instruction should take.

7. Assessment Leadership
Brittany serves as a member of SPARK’s instructional
leadership team. As a member of this team, she has
worked to collaboratively analyze CRCT data in order to
develop the Continuous Improvement Plan.
Brittany has worked closely with APS
Instructional Mentors to help new teachers develop
assessments for their students and utilize the data
to guide their instruction.
8. Assessment Feedback for parents
Brittany shares student progress with parents on
a regular basis. Work portfolios are sent home
weekly. Detailed comments are sent home with
progress reports and report cards.

9. Quarterly Common assessments
Brittany collaborate with her grade team to develop and
administer quarterly common assessments that measure
student mastery of instructed standards. Data from these
assessments is one of the informing factors in
planning for instruction and student grouping.
10. Rubrics
Brittany teaches students how
to self-assess their work using
a rubric. This also helps
students to understand the
expectations for projects as
they are completing them.
13. Engaging Students in assessment
Brittany engages students in the assessment process. She
assesses student work in the student’s presence so that
feedback for growth can be shared. Students have the
opportunity to reflect on their assessment performance,
ask questions, and plan for mastery.
