Tony Leon
Ambassador Tony Leon's new
bestselling book "The Accidental
Ambassador - From Parliament to
Patagonia" was described by
Business Day as "a page turner -
and you will not be bored when
you read it."
You certainly won't be bored when
you hear him either. Tony uses his
extraordinary experiences as the
longest serving Leader of the
Opposition in South Africa and as
President Jacob Zuma's hand-
picked ambassador to Argentina,
Paraguay and Uruguay to delight
audiences here and abroad.
Showcasing how South Africa can
again ride on the fast track of high
growth and good governance, he
also warns of the pitfalls to avoid
en route.

David Grier
David was born into a Cape wine farming family in South
Africa, creating his love of the outdoors, food and wine. This is
where his adventure began. After studying Hotel
Management, David started a string of successful restaurants.
Always pushing the boundaries in the food industry, he slowly
began to make his mark in the industry with his most recent
restaurant rated in the top 100 in South Africa. His success
has led to television, brand exposure and his own range of
food products.
But David is a man of many talents, much imagination and a
whole lot of passion. Inspired to help children who need cleft
palate surgery, David embarked on a series of unbelievable
adventures and in his most recent one he ran the length of
India in one attempt.
The endeavour was deemed "madness", but David succeeded -
running, climbing and even crawling his way across
treacherous and weather-battered terrain. This sent him into
the record books - again - becoming the first person to run the
length of India from the most Northern Temple in Srinagar to
the most southern temple, Kanyakamari.
His journey was riddled with problems, sickness,
hospitalisation, and military arrests. But none of that stopped
him from reaching the Southern tip of India, completing the
run of 4008 km in 93 days.
"Thank you India for giving me the opportunity to realise a
dream"

River, to draw attention to the adversities faced by the
natural world and all its life forms. Davey set out to
discover the root causes of the various issues, in order
to promote sustainable, empowering and inspiring
solutions.
The first milestone of the adventure was achieved with
Davey successfully summiting Nevada Mismi, a 5597m
peak in the Andes, considered to be the source of the

professional sailor, infected with an
unquenchable wanderlust and appetite for
adventure. Barry spent the following 6 years
developing a ground breaking wildlife reserve in
Kwa Zulu Natal, along with a passion for horses
and South African history.
In an effort to reconcile these diverse passions
Barry created the concept of The Ride: a reality
television series that retraces epic horseback
journeys that shaped history.
"At first glance it's simply a "Boy's Own"
adventure but this concept really picks at the scab
of our heritage, helping us understand the things
that individuals did, good and bad, that shaped
our country, challenging us to understand our
past and hopefully informing a better future.“
