Everything you need to know about treating pain through laser therapy
3. Laser therapy is a healing tool that uses
high frequency infrared light to revitalize
wounded or wearing tissue.
4. The light (which uses a super concentrated heat that cannot be felt by
the skin) draws blood to the area. This jump starts healing and reduces
inflammation by allowing even more blood to naturally travel to where
it’s needed most.
5. This brings more oxygen to the site, thus
reinvigorating the cells and relieving pain &
discomfort.
6. Here are a few examples of cases that
have been proven through extensive
research to show major improvement
after receiving laser therapy.
8. Bite Wounds: Why?
When your pet gets bitten by another animal, the
damage, however superficial it appears to be on
the surface, likely goes deep.
Laser therapy penetrates through several layers
of the skin to promote healing throughout the
wound.
9. Bite Wounds: When?
The wound should receive a laser treatment
once daily for the first three days, and then
continue if needed on a schedule determined by
our medical team.
11. Dermatitis: Why?
Have you noticed small wounds on your pet’s skin or
irritation on their paws? Do they lick their paws
frequently? This discomfort is likely due to itching
caused by seasonal or environmental allergies.
Laser therapy reduces the inflammation that this licking
causes.
12. Dermatitis: When?
Mild cases of dermatitis could heal with only 2 laser
treatments; more severe cases should be treated on a
more frequent schedule.
14. Hot Spots: Why?
The anti-inflammatory properties of laser therapy eases
the itching and discomfort caused by the hot spot by
healing its open sore. This reduces your pet’s desire to
lick the area and improves their quality of life.
15. Hot Spots: When?
This type of irritation should be treated daily for
three sessions and then taper until fully healed.
17. Arthritis: Why?
Arthritis affects your pet’s joints and causes mild
discomfort to severe pain. Laser therapy reinvigorates
the tissue surrounding the joint by bringing blood and
oxygen to the area. This improves mobility and
alleviates pain.
18. Arthritis: When?
Treatment should begin once a day for up to a week
and then taper to every other day as needed until
desired results for mobility are achieved.
20. Dysplasia: Why?
Dysplasia is when the ball or socket of a joint is
malformed causing them to not fit together properly.
Like arthritis, this can cause severe joint pain.
Laser therapy soothes discomfort by reducing the
inflammation caused by rubbing inside the joint.
21. Dysplasia: When?
Treatment should begin once every other day for up
to two weeks, then taper off as needed until your pet’
s optimum comfort level is achieved.
