Review and Recap for Pre-search Phase 2 Week of October 6
1. Monday –Thursday, October 6-9, 2014
What We Are Doing
We are in pre-search, phase 2. The work we are doing the next few days will:
1. Be a springboard to a collaborative activity Friday and our work next week to help us “crop” our topic and narrow in on a focus area
2. Help us begin to build a “mindmap” of our topic and grow our background knowledge
Procedures
1. Use the database and search engines on the LibGuide to mine for articles of interest. Please take time to try any source you have not sampled yet. Based on your sticky note feedback, most of you need more time to try the databases and search engines. Don’t rely solely on self-selected sources from the web.
2. Skim the article. If it is print worthy, print it—no charge. Remember to use the built in print tools or the Printer Friendly tool for sources not in one of the databases.
3. Annotate the article using the strategies we’ve provided you.
4. Complete the KWL graphic organizer chart for the article.
5. Complete the Information Evaluation checklist graphic organizer for your article.
6. Add your source to EasyBib. Please take advantage of the tutorial videos we’ve added or ask for help if you are unsure in any way on how to add the source. Thanks!
7. Staple all your work together and keep up with it.
