Why We’re Here
• Storm drain systems are primarily designed for
flood control, not pollution control
• Storm water carries clogging debris like
floatables (pollution), erosion, leaves and yard waste
into our catch basins and storm drains
• Routine and emergency cleaning of catch basins is expensive
• Debris that does not clog up the system ends up polluting our waterways
and the cost is as astonishing as the tons of litter being removed
We help significantly
curtail these costs

Expander Inlet Protector
Our line of patent pending Expander Inlet
Protectors have brackets that expand to securely
fasten the steel and rubber tubing framework within
the mouth of the inlet.
This framework holds a variety of filtration media –
landscaping cloth, fiberglass screening and ½” cloth
mesh – which provide protection from erosion
and/or floatables while allowing for exceptional
drainage.
As gravity pulls stormwater through the filters,
pollution is stopped!

A Test Exceeded
1st Test
1 ½” nozzle 70 psi = 503 gpm
Duration: 15 minutes
Results: The water did not back up past
the Curb Apron during this test. The
flow was constant through the device.
2nd Test
2’ nozzle at 70 psi = 895 gpm
Duration: 5 minutes
Results: The water backup was 1’ foot in
front of the Curb Apron toward the street.
The flow was constant through the device
3rd Test
2 ½” nozzle at 70 psi = 1398 gpm
Duration: 5 minutes
Results: The water went over the top of
the curb at a low point just beyond the
Curb Inlet at the end of 5 minutes.

Feedback from the Field
"We used the device during an event in Downtown Austin and found not only did it
effectively contain the debris at the Inlet, it also greatly reduced the possibility of a
citizen tripping. The time spent for the installation, removal of the device and the clean-
up was minimal.“
"The conclusion is that The Expander Inlet Protection Device is an effective, efficient and
less expensive way to help control the amount of pollution that enters our waterways“
Tony Glass, COA SUPERINTENDENT
"The Inlet Expander device installed at 32nd and Tom Green continues to work beyond
expectations. During a recent rain event crews were asked to remove City Approved
protection. The project received minor amounts of precipitation 1/2" over two days
during this time the inlets with removed protection received about 1/2 " of deposited silt
and debris while the inlet expander trapped this 1/2" material before it entered the storm
system. Crews were able to remove and dispose of it properly with less than 5 min. of
effort“
Jeff Jewett , CONSTRUCTION INSPECTOR
"Overall, your product is well built and did exactly what an inlet protector should do,
stopping pollutants from entering the storm system while allowing water to continually
drain.”
Duane Herrera, SWMP TECH, City of Temple Drainage Department
