Promotional brochure for Lewis Ag & Construction in Adelaide, showcasing their new range of New Holland T6 Auto Command tractors. Copywriting, editing and design by Cadogan and Hall.
2. The New Holland T6 Auto Command Tractor
series features three four-cylinder models—
T6.140 (143hp), T6.150 (154hp) and
T6.160 (163hp)—which are ideal for work in
vineyards in the Adelaide Hills and Barossa
Valley.
Their exceptional manouevrability and flexibility
means that they are equally at home in a
vineyard or orchard, or being used for more
general agricultural work. These tractors are also
notable for their outstanding operator safety and
comfort, and the simplicity of their operation.

3. With an overall operating width of just
2 metres, the T6 is perfect for row crop
work and has unsurpassed handling on the
headland, while its compact dimensions
mean that it can work in tight or confined
spaces, making it an ideal machine for
front-mounted implement and loader work.
The T6 also also has one of the best
power-to-weight ratios in its class, at 30kg/
hp when the EPM is in action, making for
less compaction in the field and more costefficient transport work.
4. Constantly Variable Transmission (CVT)
All models of the New Holland T6 feature a
Constantly Variable Transmission (CVT), which
means they operate most efficiently at the
most frequently used speeds, giving greater
operational effectiveness and smooth speed
changes, both when undertaking work in the
field and using your tractor for transport.
The synchronised gearbox has two forward
gears and one reverse and the speed can
be adjusted in 0.01kmh increments, so that
specialised tasks such as hand planting can
be performed. There are 40kmh and 50kmh
models available, making the T6 the perfect
tractor for farming operations where frequent
transport is required.
5. The T6 Auto Command manages speed without affecting the power
of the RTO, which is run from a direct shaft so that it can be set
independently of ground speed. The CVT transmission gives the PTO
priority, altering the engine RPMs and reducing ground speed so as to
prevent the engine from being lugged down.
The T6 Auto Command has a maximum lift capacity of 7,864kg, and
the rear linkage and hydraulics are built to cope with using heavy
mounted equipment for long periods of time. This is combined with
integral dynamic ride control shock load protection, which means that
bounce is significantly reduced when travelling with a heavy load at
transport speeds.
6. Fuel efficient and safe to use on steep ground
The T6 Auto Command is also
noted for its fuel efficiency, aided
by a 80 litre per minute CCLS
hydraulic pump, which both
delivers oil when it’s needed
while also reducing the need to
operate the engine at high speed
to deliver sufficient flow. This has
a positive effect both on fuel
costs and emissions and ensures
that no matter how hard the
tractor is working, the steering
remains light and easy to
operate. Two mid mount remote
valves, which can be used for
vine trimmers and barrel pruners,
come as standard on the T6 and
are simply controlled from the
joystick.
In addition, the T6 series features
Active Stop-Start technology,
whereby the transmission
actively holds the tractor in a
stationary position, so it is wellequipped for work on steep or
uneven terrain, and you can
confidently park on a hill or incline
with a full load of apples or
grapes on board, confident that
both tractor and trailer will stay
firmly in place.
7. Command Grip Joystick
Ease and simplicity of operation is to the fore on the T6, as it features a
force-based Command Grip joystick, where the tractor’s acceleration and
speed are determined by the force placed on the handle. The joystick has
backlit buttons and is extremely well-placed to sit at the operator’s right
hand, and 8 different functions can all be conveniently controlled from it,
enabling the operator to control the three-point hitch and two mid-mount
remotes, shuttle forward and back, adjust three target speeds (forward or
reverse), and operate the cruise control.
The T6 features a single raise/lower switch so that an implement can be
simply lifted and then returned to its working position at the end of a row or
during a headland turn, and the system allows you to record 28 sequenced
operations, all of which can be played back at the touch of a button.
8. Sidewinder Armrest and Horizon Cab
Another exceptional feature of the T6 series is the Sidewinder II
armrest. Organised so that all key controls are grouped together for
ease of operation, the armrest can also be positioned to suit the
individual operator. This
is accompanied by a
fully integrated IntelliView
monitor, featuring a
colour touch screen that
enables parameters to
be assesses and altered
during operations, and
is positioned so as to
be naturally within the
driver’s line of sight.
The Horizon cab offers
industry-leading levels of
operator comfort, with
key controls mounted
in the roof, while the air
conditioning, Bluetooth
radio and control panel
are positioned for easy
access and operation.
The performance monitor
on the dashboard gives
information on all key
operating parameters,
and there are also charge points for a mobile and MP3 player. A tinted
rear window protects the operator from the sun’s heat, while the cab
provides 360 degree visibility. Comfort Ride cab suspension ensures
that long hours spent in the operator’s seat are as comfortable as
possible.
