  1. Candidate experience is a big buzz word today, just like big data was a few years ago. At CareerBuilder, we have spent the last 20 years helping bridge the gap between candidates and employers, whether that’s through our website CareerBuilder.com, our solutions like Talent Networks, career sites, mobile, etc. What we have learned over these last twenty years, is that these two groups oftentimes do not agree on things. One of them is on what a real candidate experience means. When we ask employers, they feel it’s things like a simply apply process, or even more broadly, it’s the entirety of every touch point a candidate has with them from start to finish. While, there’s no wrong answer here, what we see from candidates is something much simpler. For candidates, it’s all about communication. Working in this industry for 20 years, CareerBuilder knows that the connection point between job-seekers and employers is a difficult one. But over the years, given the economic recession where the volume of candidates were huge, and employers were doing the same workload with a smaller staff, this communication gap widened.Now that we are back to a “new normal” where candidates have far more power in the apply process with a lower unemployment rate, they are speaking with something that many aren’t realizing. They are speaking with their wallet.
