4. We talked to people and found..…
“ Start-ups seek funding way before they are investable. When at this early stage they ask
for “Money” they will be told to politely…off … however if they ask for advice, that they then
act upon, they will massively increase their chances of getting investment”. Jon Bradford –
Tech Stars London
“ Credibility is the start-ups main currency. Credibility of the team, credibility of their
advisors, partners and backers and the credibility of what they have achieved to date” –
Sean Ward founder of Synthace
“ I have no time or resources to scout deal flow from universities. I rely on others to direct
them to us”– Senior Partner at London VC .
“ If you are afraid to share data on your start-up, don’t bother pitching me or 500 start-
ups”- Dave McClure
“ London is not Silicon Valley… What we do here needs to recognise that”- Russ Shaw –
Founder of Tech London Advocates.

5. What does London Start-up scene
want..
Start-ups
Want
introductions
to investors or
failing that
“quality
Advisors” - but
most are too
early or
“under-
cooked” to be
ready for
investment.
Seed Investors
Would like
“filtered”
introductions
to “Investable”
start-ups.
Angels also
want better
“deal flow”.
Universities ,
Accelerators &
Incubators
Want to
demonstrate
value of their
support to Start-
ups, Advisors and
investors – also
want more
quality start-up
clients
Advisors
Would like a
time efficient
way to find,
strike up
relationships
and add value
to start-ups .
some also
would like
recognition.
THE SOURCE THE PLAYER THE ENABLER THE CLIENT

13. How does it work…for Capital
Enterprise members & partners?
London based Start-up support providers
(such as Universities, Incubators,
Accelerators etc) will:
- Have there services and contact
details advertised on the platform.
- Be able to invite suitable start-ups,
advisors and investors to take part in
their programmes.
- Be able in pilot stage to nominate the
start-ups who go on the platform.
www.capitallist.co
14. ..so is this just a clone of Angel List?
Yes
Capital List has “borrowed” the
best bits of Angel List such as:
• Core function- to showcase start-ups to
Angel investors.
• Clean User Interface
• Simplicity of its navigation
• E-mail updates and notifications
No
London is not California so at
Capital List we will:
• Focus on connecting London start-ups
with London investors – because
Angels for the most part only invest in
markets they know/ in teams they can
actively support.
• Provide a greater role for the advisor
and champion –because start-ups in
London need help to “prove” their
business model in order to be attractive
to quality London based investors .
• Provide a greater role for start-up
providers -because if investors want
more developed start-ups, these
programmes have to play a greater
role.

15. The future for Capital List….
@ Pilot/ Beta Test
The 100 day pilot stage will look to test and
measure:
• Interest- No of active participating
advisors, investors and start-ups
• Stickiness – No of user generated
updates and interactions/ % active
users after 100 days.
• Effectiveness- No of meetings
generated between start-ups and
advisors/ investors.
• Concept- ( Does it matter to investors
where start-ups are sourced from or
who advisors/ endorses them?) – No of
start-ups who raised/ Amount raised.
Post Pilot
If successful Capital List will post pilot:
• Confirm on-going participation of all
participants
• Build out the platform (adding/
removing feature sets and automating
registration and filters)
• Open platform to all comers
• Open platform to partnerships and
integration with other London based
