Vega GP is the result of an endeavor by a group of 10th and 11th graders from New Delhi
to achieve something that goes beyond the textbook, the school and most importantly, the
“Dream Stage,” as we call it. Every single member of this team has a very special
relationship with Formula 1. Whether it is watching the Grand Prix’s on Sunday afternoons,
when we should’ve been studying, or going down to Buddh in the freezing weather that our
city is known to feature, to watch our favorite teams and drivers whizz around the track
and breakneck speeds, or even designing our very own car, the passion for F1 and racing is
something that we all share. And this passion is binding, mesmerizing. Day and night our
fantastic engineers have toiled to make sure that wing is just perfect, and not nearly. Our
Sponsorship Manager has spent hundreds of hours making pitches to sponsors, our
Graphics Designer has come up with some fantastic designs. Why? To win, of course. But
also because we love it, drawn by it, and addicted to it. In this portfolio, we have highlighted
our efforts to satisfy our hunger, our fellows, and our sponsors.

3. Team
Principal
A leader of men, Aman Raghuvanshi has
time and time again proved that he is a
terrific team manager for VegaGP. His
calm, smart and relaxed attitude means
that the team doesn't feel burdened by the
pressure, even during adverse situations.
He keeps an overwatch over things and
makes sure that all deadlines are being met
and the work that is being done is quality.
He also acts as a spokesperson for the
team, and has a wealth of knowledge
combined with tremendous speaking
ability. His ability to draw the attention of
anyone while he is talking is a main reason
he is such a good leader. He has also done
his fair share of labor too, be it working on
fine tuning the portfolio last minute, and
making sure that the car was properly
manufactured among other things. He has
also lent out a hand in making various
presentations, as well as comforting team
mates in distress. God wonder where we
would be without his qualities.
The Team
Sponsorship
Manager
Sparsh is a talented, as well as an
extremely hardworking member of
the team. He always looks for a more
efficient way of doing things which
makes him very different from his
competition. He made sure that the
team did not face any shortage of
monetary support, but at the same
time kept the budget from exploding.
He extensively helped out in almost
every other area, from designing to
getting the teams doubts cleared. His
motivation,determination and
perseverance to get through rough
patches is crucial to VegaGP's amazing
journey. His unique sponsor strategy
benefited VegaGP hugely and we are
lucky to have a member of his caliber
in the team.

Graphics
Designer
The only one in VegaGP, who
isn't a 11th grader, but Abhinav
has made his presence felt with
some wonderful graphic
designing. He took up the
responsibility of making a logo,
and he improved on it till it
didn't express his true feelings,
which shows that every design
or background he makes is a
reflection of his true feelings
and his inner hard work. He has
complied with all the deadlines
and on occasions has produced
absolutely brilliant work, which
is expected from someone who
is a consistent winner at
interschool level, when it comes
to graphic designing.
4. Design
Engineer
Manufacturing
Engineer
Along with Akshit, Tabish has
worked along with him to
design a really good car. His
passion for Formula1 is
unparalleled, and he aims to
emulate his idol Adrian Newey
someday. Many a time you may
not notice his presence, but he
has a unique way of making it
felt - that is coming up with
fabulous ideas and suggestions
just when you need them. His
knowledge has been a driving
force for the team, and we hope
his designs can make us a force
to reckon in the regional
championships.
He may not be the most extrovert
member of the team, but Akshit has
loads of talent inside him. His love for
physics and massive interest in cars
led him to becoming the Design &
Manufacturing engineer of VegaGP. He
consistently puts in long shifts of
work, and never seems to tire. He
was the first member of the team to
have grasped solidworks, and he has
now become an expert at it. His
designs along with our other
engineer's made the amazing car we
dreamed of, turn into reality. He also
takes up responsibility when he has
to, without complaining, and his
positive attitude has been a very
welcome feature of our team.

5. Sponsors
Vega GP has 5 sponsors, each of whom
we are greatly indebted to for their
support.
We have focused on correctly using our
funds, because we understand that
sponsors expect a return of some sort on
their investment. Thus we revised our
budget and costs multiple times before
seeking any sort of sponsorship so as to
provide a fair quid pro quo to them.
5
6. Budget Plans
As stated earlier, we
revised our budget plans
multiple times for the
sake of pragmatism and
prevention of wastage of
funds.
6
8. Softwares Used
Due to the immense complexity
of this competition, we have
used a number of computer
softwares to ensure that all
works smoothly. We would
especially like to highlight the
use of Dassault’s SolidWorks,
which formed the base for our
car’s design.
8
9. Means of Communication
We used the above 3 means, primarily, to communicate
amongst ourselves, our fans and our sponsors
9
10. Promotion
We have conducted various
promotional exercises, such
as creating a Facebook page,
distributing complimentary
Vega GP wristbands, creation
of custom Vega apparel and
even engaging of our peers in
discussion about F1 and our
team
10
12. Philosophy
In incorporating various salient features in the
basic design of the
car, our engineers have created a car that has both
a substantially
low drag co-efficient and a
considerable amount of downforce.
Moreover, we have gone through extensive
changes in design, each
radically, or minutely, different from the previous
one. In essence,
the perfect shape along with the perfect weight is
what we set out to
achieve, and sincerely believe that we have, in fact,
achieved.
12
13. Vega Racer Mk I
While it's looks may suggest otherwise, this indeed
was our design engineer's very first attempt at
making a car complying with the regulation. It
received a lots of praise for it's sleek looks, but in
reality the performance of the car was mediocre,
something to be expected for an initial design.
However, the concept did come of great use, as it
educated the engineers about the potential flaws
they could make in their forthcoming designs, and
hence helped them to avoid doing so.
13
14. Vega Racer Mark II
For a regionals car, this concept can be
seen as nothing short of spectacular. This
car could be described as a fusion
between the ideas of our extremely
talented engineers and innovations from
various F1 in Schools global finalists. The
arched cylinder compartment which was
hinged from the back portion made the
car aerodynamically superior than most
of the cars you would see, as it allowed
air to pass through freely without any
obstructions. Also, the front wing was an
idea taken from 2011 Champions
'Pentagliders' and this meant that the car
was terrific all round. And the fact that
the car complied to every single
regulation meant that it was nothing
short of a marvel, a masterpiece.
However, the complex design of the car
meant that it could not be manufactured
in a regional level, and hence it was
abandoned. However, it is something we
would like to build on in the future due
to it's sheer potential to smash records,
and perform superbly
14
15. Vega Racer Mark III
After working ridiculously hard, our engineers came up with a design which perfectly
combined style and swagger with performance and efficiency. The car has a simplistic, yet
striking design. The simple edges and sloping smooth body means that the car should
effortlessly cut through air and deliver a good performance. Our designers did hours of
rigorous virtual testing to make sure this car could be competitive, especially after the
disappointment of Mk.2. After manufacturing, the car was praised for it's effortless looks and
sporting stance, as well as simple innovations which led to making a big difference.VegaGP
hopes that the car can clock some great times in the regional event and pay off the months of
effort put in to the competition.
15
18. Conclusion
Every once in a while, a time comes when all you can do is
look back and smile. This is one of those times. I speak on
behalf of my entire team when I say that the F1 in schools
challenge is one that we will never forget. For it taught us
camaraderie, teamwork, science, InDesign(!) and
responsibility. As I gaze at our two little cars, I don’t see
balsa and paint, I see hopes and dreams. The hopes and
dreams that brought us to this competition and drove us
through it, through thick and thin It has changed me, it has
changed us. Will it change you?
