This document discusses how Catalogic ECX copy data management software can be used with IBM FlashSystem V9000 all-flash storage arrays to provide software-defined agility. The IBM FlashSystem offers high performance storage with data compression and disaster recovery capabilities. Catalogic ECX automates copy creation, tracking, usage, refresh, and deletion to simplify management of copies for use cases like disaster recovery, testing/development, and self-service. A live demonstration shows how ECX streamlines recovery and enables self-service access to copies. Resources for learning more about the joint solution are provided.

12. All-Flash vs. Hard Disk Drives
• Because of performance constraints, HDD systems require full clones, to
move data to other spindles. Flash does not have this limitation, so one
copy does the work of many HDD copies.

13. Two Required Storage Functions
13
Making Copies Using Copies
• Snapshots
• Replicas
• Local recovery
• Remote recovery
• Disaster Recovery
• Test/Dev
• Cloud
• Reporting, analytics
• DevOps
• Forensics
• And so on…
14. 14
But successfully managing multiple copies
requires automation, governance, insight and
control…
…which is just what Catalogic ECX provides.
15. 15
What Catalogic ECX Does…
• Creates copies
• Tracks copies
• Lets you use copies
• Refreshes copies
• Transitions copies, e.g. test to production
• Deletes copies when they aren’t needed
One ECX user protected 8
TB of data in 11 seconds.
“Copies at no cost, no
impact and in no time.”
16. 16
How Catalogic ECX Works…
• Leverages – but does not replace – array copy
processes (snaps, replication)
• Talks directly to storage array and hypervisor
• Catalogs all copies
• Uses template-based workflow model

I’m Christian Burns, Senior Product Manager with Catalogic.
Thanks for taking the time today to learn about Catalogic, and more importantly, how our join solution, Catalogic ECX with IBM FlashSystem V9000, can compete very well with EMC’s flash offerings.
In terms of an agenda, we thought we would start with a quick overview from Patty on the V9000 and the value it brings, then some slides around why CDM with all flash arrays is important, provide some data points, and let you hear a little bit of what EMC is saying around this topic.
We’ll talk about the IT modernization challenge that most enterprises are facing today (which, by the way, is a primary driver of why customers are purchasing all flash arrays), and talk about how ECX helps customers “bridge the gap” in this IT modernization challenge.
Then we’ll take a step back, so to speak, and dig a little deeper into the solution and talk about how it can help your customers achieve self service and devops automation.
We’ll follow that up with a little deeper dive on what EMC is offering and how it stacks up against the combined solution of Catalogic ECX and the V9000, then follow that up with a quick demo, and round out the hour with some Q&A.
So I'd like to wrap up by providing some links to helpful resources:

First, we there's the link to the IBM portal page I've referenced, as well as the email alias for all things IBM
[CLICK]
Additionally, you can use that alias to request a more comprehensive demo
[CLICK]
We also have a webinars page where you can register for upcoming webinars and also access recordings of previous ones.

And there is a wealth of collateral (reports, whitepapers, and a link to the ECX redbook) all available on the portal page.
