And God called the light Day, and the
darkness he called Night. And the evening
and the morning were the first day.
Now nowhere in the creation account is the
first day of the week of creation blessed,
sanctified, or declared holy. Did any day of
creation receive this kind of recognition
• Gen 2:3
• And God blessed the seventh day, and
sanctified it: because that in it he had rested
from all his work which God created and
• In all of scripture, the seventh day of the week, the
Sabbath, is the only day which has been declared
by God Himself to be blessed, sanctified (set aside
for a holy purpose), in memorial to His creation.
• We are again reminded to observe the
seventh day Sabbath in the commandments
given at Sinai:
Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.
Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy
