 Ago: three weeks ago (cách đây 3 tuần), two days ago, 300
years ago
 In ... (cộng với năm hoặc tháng): in 2010, in the 1980s, in
the last century, in the past

 For……: for a long time, for 6 weeks


Động từ dạng quá khứ: theo quy tắc và bất quy tắc
 Động từ có quy tắc: Dạng quá khứ cho các động từ có
quy tắc ta thêm đuôi –ed
 Những trường hợp đặc biệt khi thêm đuôi “ed” (xem
bảng sau)


Động từ dạng quá khứ: theo quy tắc và bất quy tắc

Động từ kết thúc –y, trước đó là phụ âm, Study _studied,
biến -y thành –ied hurry – hurried
Động từ kết thúc là “e”, thì chỉ cần thêm “d” live _ lived, love_
vào sau loved
Động từ một âm tiết hoặc hai âm tiết nhưng stop  stopped,
trọng âm rơi vào âm tiết thứ hai, kết thúc admit  admitted,
bằng một phụ âm, trước đó là một nguyên âm prefer 
thì gấp đôi phụ âm trước khi thêm “ed” preferred.


Các lỗi thường gặp và cần tránh khi dùng quá khứ đơn

 Dùng lẫn lộn giữa động từ Tobe với động từ thường.
Wrong: I was have a flu yesterday
 I had a flu yesterday/ I was ill yesterday
 Kết hợp thì quá khứ đơn và quá khứ tiếp diễn không đúng cách
Wrong: When I was coming home yesterday, she was talking on the
phone
 When I came home yesterday, she was talking on the phone.
 Nhầm lẫn giữa thì quá khứ đơn với thì hiện tại hoàn thành
Wrong: I have lived in Hanoi for 2 years and then I moved to HCM
City
 I lived in Hanoi for 2 years and then I moved to HCM City.

Quá khứ tiếp diễn- Cách dùng

Hành động đang xảy ra tại một +Yesterday at 10.30 they

Các lỗi thường gặp và cần tránh
 Nhầm lẫn giữa While và When, tuy ý nghĩa gần như nhau,
When thường đi với động từ chia ở quá khứ đơn ; While
thường được theo sau bởi thì quá khứ tiếp diễn, mang ý
nghĩa là “trong khi, trong lúc”
Wrong: While she called, I was doing my homework
When she called, I was doing my homework / she called
while I was doing my homework


Các lỗi thường gặp và cần tránh
 Nhầm lẫn khi kết hợp thì quá khứ đơn và quá khứ tiếp diễn
Wrong: - I watched TV when I heard a loud sound.
- I watched TV when I was hearing a loud sound
 I was watching TV when I heard a loud sound
 Thì quá khứ đơn dùng cho những hành động ngắn chen
ngang, thì quá khứ tiếp diễn dùng cho những hành động
dài hơn và đang diễn ra

I. A. Matching two columns to make meaningful sentences,
remember to put the verbs in past simple

Last week we (go) very good all week.

We (stay) in Saturday.
