4. • In the past farmers used a different, strange & an
inherent language in the fields.
• This language which respected to the paddy field & its
operations was termed as “Govi Basa” or “Kamth
Basa”.
• Today in paddy operations, old rituals & animals have
been replaced with modern machineries.
• Therefore the culture which had been built around draft
cattle is being decreasing rapidly. “The Kamath Basa”
has faced the same pathetic situation.
• It is being flown away from the minds of the
people, even from the farmers today.

• Help to express their problems to extension
officers.
• If the extension officers knows the Kamath
Basa, farmers may feel more familiar.
• Also young farmers may easily grab the
traditional knowledge regards with
agricultural activities from the older
generations.

• Help to study the indigenous knowledge
systems of our traditional farmers.
• Specially help to find the scientific base of
most of traditional agricultural rituals such as
“Kem Krama”.
• Their researches could be design as an
understandable way to farmers.
16. For agriculture students….
• Help to gather indigenous farming practices.
• Help to understand the traditional farming
rituals.
• Make a bridge between young generation and
older people.
• Will Facilitate them to communicate with rural
