THERE ARE MANY STEREOTYPES TOWARDS YOUTH. THIS INCLUDES:
• REBELLIOUS
• IMMATURE
• NAÏVE
• UNKNOWLEDGEABLE
• “CHAVVY”
• TROUBLESOME
• CARELESS
• RECKLESS
• VIOLENT
• AND MOST COMMONLY SEEN WEARING DARK CLOTHING AND HOODIES
SUB-CULTURES
WHEN IT COMES TO YOUTH, THERE ARE MANY DIFFERENT CATEGORIES WHICH THEY CAN THEN FALL INTO BASED UPON INTERESTS.
• ROCKERS
• PUNKS
• GOTHS
• SKINHEADS
• HIPPIES
• EMO
• JOCKS
• GLAM ROCK
OUR FOCUS
WE DECIDED TO FOCUS ON THE JOCKS. THESE ARE THE ONES WHO ARE
MEANT TO BE CONSIDERABLY BRAVE, STRONG, AND OUT – GOING. IN
HORROR FILMS THERE'S ALWAYS A JOCK, THESE ARE THE ONES WHO
EVERYONE SEEMS TO FALL IN LOVE WITH BASED ON APPEARANCE AND
PERSONALITY. THEY ARE TYPICALLY YOUNG AND USUALLY PROMISCUOUS
WITH THE BLONDE CHARACTER. HOWEVER, THESE TYPES OF
CHARACTERS DON’T USUALLY SURVIVE.
IN OUR OPENING, WE TRIED TO REPRESENT THIS TYPE OF CHARACTER AS
BEST WE COULD BY USING A TRACK SUIT AND TRAINERS BY THE
POPULAR BRAND ADIDAS. HOWEVER, WE ALSO USED A HOODIE TO SHOW
HIS TYPE OF PERSONALITY AND ATTITUDE BY THINKING OF HIMSELF AS
HAVING A DARK SIDE OR BAD GUY ATTITUDE.
INTERESTS AND HOBBIES OF YOUTH

• GAMING
• CRIME
• TECHNOLOGY
• BEING OUT LATE
• PARTIES
• MUSIC
• SPORTS – TYPICALLY MALE
• DRUGS AND DRINKING
HOW DID I REPRESENT SOCIAL GROUPS
THROUGH THE USE OF THE INTERESTS AND HOBBIES, IT WAS EASY TO
REPRESENT TEENAGERS. USING THE STEREOTYPICALLY INTERESTS IN
WHICH SOCIETY BELIEVES TEENAGERS ARE LIKE, SUCH AS CRIME AND
VIOLENCE CAN EASILY PORTRAY THE SOCIAL GROUP OF YOUTH. IN
ADDITION TO CRIME, TECHNOLOGY HAS A MASSIVE IMPACT ON LETTING
THE AUDIENCE KNOW THE SOCIAL GROUP. FOR INSTANCE WHEN IT
CAME TO OUR OPENING, THE FIRST THING WE SAW THE MAIN
CHARACTER DO WAS PULL OUT HIS PHONE, FOLLOWING THE
STEREOTYPE OF TEENAGERS BEING OBSESSED WITH THEM.
RELATED CHARACTER TO PROTAGONIST
THE MAIN CHARACTER IN WHICH IS LINKED TO OUR CHARACTER IS THE JOCK IN
“THE FINAL DESTINATION 3”. THIS IS BECAUSE HE GIVES OFF ALL THE
STEREOTYPES LINKED TOWARDS JOCKS IN BOTH FILMS AND SOCIETY.
THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE FILM OF “THE FINAL DESTINATION” HE CONVINCED THAT
HE IS STRONG BOTH PSYCHICALLY AND MENTALLY TO BELIEVE THAT HE ISN’T
GOING TO DIE, WHICH IS THE SIMILAR TO THE CHARACTER USED IN OUR FILM.
THIS BEING THAT HE HAS A DREAM AND AS IT BECOMES A REALITY HE DOESN’T
BELIEVE THAT IT WILL COME COMPLETELY TRUE AND HE WILL SURVIVE.
RELATED CHARACTER TO ANTAGONIST
• THE MAIN CHARACTER IN WHICH I THINK WOULD HIGHLY BE
LINKED TO OUR ANTAGONIST WOULD BE THE JOKER IN
SUICIDE SQUAD (JARDED LETO). THIS IS BECAUSE WE
WANTED TO GIVE THE SAME CREEPY EFFECT HE HAS. HE WAS
ONE OF THE INSPIRATIONS FOR THE TYPE OF COSTUME WE
WENT FOR, AND BASED UPON HIS CHARACTER THE PART THAT
MADE HIM UP WAS HIS FACE AND EXPRESSIONS. WE CHOOSE
A COSTUME THAT WAS “JOKER” LIKE BEING A JESTER,
HOWEVER, WE ALSO CHOOSE THE COSTUME BASED ON THE
CREEPY SMILE ON THE MASK, WHICH IS THE JOKERS BEST
FEATURE IN SUICIDE SQUAD – IN OUR OPINION.
COSTUMES
ONE OF THE MAIN INSPIRATIONS FOR THE TYPE OF COSTUME WAS
THROUGH THE PURGE. THIS WAS BECAUSE OF THE CREEPY FACES
USED TO HIDE THEIR IDENTITY. WE CHOOSE THIS FILMS BECAUSE
DURING THE PURGE, IT SEEMED ALMOST LIKE A GAME IN WHICH
ALMOST ALL TEENAGERS WANTED TO PLAY AND EXPERIENCE,
HAVING FOUND THAT ADRENALINE AND GAMING IS SOMETHING
THAT TEENAGERS ARE INTERESTED IN. THE IDEA OF A GAME LINKS TO
THE SOCIAL GROUP OF YOUTH AS THEY ARE LINKED TOWARDS
CRIME QUITE LOT, SO INCLUDING THIS IN 0UR FILM HELPED SHOW
OUR AUDIENCE WHO WE BASED OUR IDEA AROUND.
TECHNOLOGY
DUE TO OUR FILM BEING FOCUSED AROUND THE MODERN DAY, WE USED THE
TECHNOLOGY, SUCH AS UP TO DATE PHONES IN OUR PRODUCTION.
STEREOTYPICALLY, TEENAGERS ARE SEEN AS VIEWING THEIR MOBILE PHONES AS
THEIR MOST PRIZED POSSESSION. THIS LINKS INTO OUR SOCIAL GROUP AS
TEENAGERS NOW DAYS ARE THE GENERATION WHICH HAS GROWN UP WITH
TECHNOLOGY AND HAVE TO HAVE AN UP TO DATE PHONE. WE WENT WITH A
MOTOROLA TOUCH PHONE TO SHOW THIS. IN ADDITION, IT DOESN’T ONLY SHOW
OUR SOCIAL GROUP, BUT IT ALSO ADDS TO THE CHARACTERISTICS OF OUR
PROTAGONIST. DUE TO THE PROTAGONIST BEING A JOCK TYPE CHARACTER, THEY
ARE USUALLY ALWAYS DOING SOMETHING TO SHOW THEIR POPULARITY WHETHER
IT BEING HANGING WITH PEOPLE OR TEXTING THEM. IN OUR OPENING, WE SHOWED
HIM REPLYING TO A TEXT AND THEN ANSWERING A CALL, WHICH ALSO ADDS TO THE
SOCIAL GROUP.
PROPS
THE USE OF PROPS CAME IN VERY HANDY WHEN SHOWING OUR SOCIAL
CLASS. ONE OFF THE STEREOTYPES FOR YOUNG MALES, IS TO GET A
NEW (UP TO DATE) FAST CAR. WHEN IT COMES TO YOUTH AS SOON AS
THEY PASS THEIR TEST, THEY WANT TO SHOW OFF AND IMPRESS
OTHERS THAT THEY CAN DRIVE. IN ADDITION, WHEN IT COMES TO
MALES, THEY INITIALLY USING A CAR LIKE THE ONE ON THE RIGHT, IT
SHOWS THE AGE OF THE TEENAGER BEING THAT IT LOOKS LIKE A FIRST
CAR.
CRIME
IN SOCIETY, MANY YOUNG PEOPLE ARE LINKED TOWARDS CRIME.
WE CHOOSE THE LOCATION AS AN UNDERPASS TO HELP LINK TO
THIS SOCIAL GROUP. THIS SUGGESTING THAT BOTH THE
PROTAGONIST AND ANTAGONIST ARE ASSOCIATED TOWARDS IT. IN
YOUTH CULTURE, TEENAGERS ALWAYS TRY TO HIDE FROM POLICE,
USUALLY BECAUSE THEY COME ACROSS AS SUSPICIOUS. THEY
WANT TO HIDE FROM GETTING CAUGHT DOING DRUGS AND
UNDERAGE DRINKING AND USUALLY MEET IN SHADY ALLEYWAYS AT
NIGHT. THIS COULD BE ONE THING IN WHICH THE AUDIENCE FEEL IS
AN IMPLIED MEANING AS TO WHAT HE IS ACTUALLY DOING AT THE
UNDERPASS, ALONE, AND IN THE DARK.

USING THE STEREOTYPICALLY INTERESTS IN WHICH SOCIETY BELIEVES TEENAGERS ARE LIKE, SUCH AS CRIME AND VIOLENCE CAN EASILY PORTRAY THE SOCIAL GROUP OF YOUTH. IN ADDITION TO CRIME, TECHNOLOGY HAS A MASSIVE IMPACT ON LETTING THE AUDIENCE KNOW THE SOCIAL GROUP. FOR INSTANCE WHEN IT CAME TO OUR OPENING, THE FIRST THING WE SAW THE MAIN CHARACTER DO WAS PULL OUT HIS PHONE, FOLLOWING THE STEREOTYPE OF TEENAGERS BEING OBSESSED WITH THEM.
  • 7. RELATED CHARACTER TO PROTAGONIST THE MAIN CHARACTER IN WHICH IS LINKED TO OUR CHARACTER IS THE JOCK IN “THE FINAL DESTINATION 3”. THIS IS BECAUSE HE GIVES OFF ALL THE STEREOTYPES LINKED TOWARDS JOCKS IN BOTH FILMS AND SOCIETY. THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE FILM OF “THE FINAL DESTINATION” HE CONVINCED THAT HE IS STRONG BOTH PSYCHICALLY AND MENTALLY TO BELIEVE THAT HE ISN’T GOING TO DIE, WHICH IS THE SIMILAR TO THE CHARACTER USED IN OUR FILM. THIS BEING THAT HE HAS A DREAM AND AS IT BECOMES A REALITY HE DOESN’T BELIEVE THAT IT WILL COME COMPLETELY TRUE AND HE WILL SURVIVE.
  • 8. RELATED CHARACTER TO ANTAGONIST • THE MAIN CHARACTER IN WHICH I THINK WOULD HIGHLY BE LINKED TO OUR ANTAGONIST WOULD BE THE JOKER IN SUICIDE SQUAD (JARDED LETO). THIS IS BECAUSE WE WANTED TO GIVE THE SAME CREEPY EFFECT HE HAS. HE WAS ONE OF THE INSPIRATIONS FOR THE TYPE OF COSTUME WE WENT FOR, AND BASED UPON HIS CHARACTER THE PART THAT MADE HIM UP WAS HIS FACE AND EXPRESSIONS. WE CHOOSE A COSTUME THAT WAS “JOKER” LIKE BEING A JESTER, HOWEVER, WE ALSO CHOOSE THE COSTUME BASED ON THE CREEPY SMILE ON THE MASK, WHICH IS THE JOKERS BEST FEATURE IN SUICIDE SQUAD – IN OUR OPINION.
  • 9. COSTUMES ONE OF THE MAIN INSPIRATIONS FOR THE TYPE OF COSTUME WAS THROUGH THE PURGE. THIS WAS BECAUSE OF THE CREEPY FACES USED TO HIDE THEIR IDENTITY. WE CHOOSE THIS FILMS BECAUSE DURING THE PURGE, IT SEEMED ALMOST LIKE A GAME IN WHICH ALMOST ALL TEENAGERS WANTED TO PLAY AND EXPERIENCE, HAVING FOUND THAT ADRENALINE AND GAMING IS SOMETHING THAT TEENAGERS ARE INTERESTED IN. THE IDEA OF A GAME LINKS TO THE SOCIAL GROUP OF YOUTH AS THEY ARE LINKED TOWARDS CRIME QUITE LOT, SO INCLUDING THIS IN 0UR FILM HELPED SHOW OUR AUDIENCE WHO WE BASED OUR IDEA AROUND.
  • 10. TECHNOLOGY DUE TO OUR FILM BEING FOCUSED AROUND THE MODERN DAY, WE USED THE TECHNOLOGY, SUCH AS UP TO DATE PHONES IN OUR PRODUCTION. STEREOTYPICALLY, TEENAGERS ARE SEEN AS VIEWING THEIR MOBILE PHONES AS THEIR MOST PRIZED POSSESSION. THIS LINKS INTO OUR SOCIAL GROUP AS TEENAGERS NOW DAYS ARE THE GENERATION WHICH HAS GROWN UP WITH TECHNOLOGY AND HAVE TO HAVE AN UP TO DATE PHONE. WE WENT WITH A MOTOROLA TOUCH PHONE TO SHOW THIS. IN ADDITION, IT DOESN’T ONLY SHOW OUR SOCIAL GROUP, BUT IT ALSO ADDS TO THE CHARACTERISTICS OF OUR PROTAGONIST. DUE TO THE PROTAGONIST BEING A JOCK TYPE CHARACTER, THEY ARE USUALLY ALWAYS DOING SOMETHING TO SHOW THEIR POPULARITY WHETHER IT BEING HANGING WITH PEOPLE OR TEXTING THEM. IN OUR OPENING, WE SHOWED HIM REPLYING TO A TEXT AND THEN ANSWERING A CALL, WHICH ALSO ADDS TO THE SOCIAL GROUP.
  • 11. PROPS THE USE OF PROPS CAME IN VERY HANDY WHEN SHOWING OUR SOCIAL CLASS. ONE OFF THE STEREOTYPES FOR YOUNG MALES, IS TO GET A NEW (UP TO DATE) FAST CAR. WHEN IT COMES TO YOUTH AS SOON AS THEY PASS THEIR TEST, THEY WANT TO SHOW OFF AND IMPRESS OTHERS THAT THEY CAN DRIVE. IN ADDITION, WHEN IT COMES TO MALES, THEY INITIALLY USING A CAR LIKE THE ONE ON THE RIGHT, IT SHOWS THE AGE OF THE TEENAGER BEING THAT IT LOOKS LIKE A FIRST CAR.
  • 12. CRIME IN SOCIETY, MANY YOUNG PEOPLE ARE LINKED TOWARDS CRIME. WE CHOOSE THE LOCATION AS AN UNDERPASS TO HELP LINK TO THIS SOCIAL GROUP. THIS SUGGESTING THAT BOTH THE PROTAGONIST AND ANTAGONIST ARE ASSOCIATED TOWARDS IT. IN YOUTH CULTURE, TEENAGERS ALWAYS TRY TO HIDE FROM POLICE, USUALLY BECAUSE THEY COME ACROSS AS SUSPICIOUS. THEY WANT TO HIDE FROM GETTING CAUGHT DOING DRUGS AND UNDERAGE DRINKING AND USUALLY MEET IN SHADY ALLEYWAYS AT NIGHT. THIS COULD BE ONE THING IN WHICH THE AUDIENCE FEEL IS AN IMPLIED MEANING AS TO WHAT HE IS ACTUALLY DOING AT THE UNDERPASS, ALONE, AND IN THE DARK.
