3. Poverty isn’t just about lack of money, it is about the deprivation of needs, such as clean water, health care, etc. It can define a person or a place. This means that it could equally be the land that is poor/in poverty, as it could be a person. This means that a person can be poor even if their community is not, e.g. There are poor people in Britain. However if an environment is in poverty and has no clean water, then it doesn’t matter how much money a person has, the will still be living in poverty as they have been deprived of a basic need, water Poverty can cause all sorts of problems in community and everyday life...

As poverty is the deprivation of resources there can be war between the community over water or food, It can also cause Illness due to lack of sanitation, water, food, health care, It can cause families to break apart and arguments to occur between families, neighbours or people in the community, And for the country in which there is poverty it can cause a labour shortage, because if people have no money to be food, death rates will consequently rise and therefore there will be less people to make up the countries workforce This will then mean that the country will not make enough money from goods and will not be able to improve the areas or lives of families in poverty and moreover they won’t be able to help people from falling into poverty themselves.

5. Poverty almost certainly contributes to making global inequalities worse. It does so because if a country is at a lesser stage of development, an its people are living in poverty, then there will be a high death rate, and many people will be weak, so they will not be able to work This means that the country will not receive money from trade and therefore will not be able to improve the country's development Consequently the global development gap will become wider therefore making global inequalities worse as one country will be rich and at a further stage of development, whereas the One with poverty will become less and less developed

6. Low Life Expectancy…

7. Life expectancy means the amount of years a person is expected to live usually taken from birth. Therefore a low life expectancy means that people die at a younger age. Countries with a low life expectancy usually have a high birth rate as people marry and have many children young in the hope that they will look after them when they are older. Low Life expectancy is common in countries at a lesser stage of development. This is because countries at a lesser stage of development tend to have a lower standard of health services meaning diseases associated with old age may not be curable.

Low Life expectancy generally goes hand in hand with high birth rate, People are classed as retired younger and therefore the working gap shortens even more This means that there are not enough people of working age to support the people who are dependent This then causes more deaths as people aren’t provided for and there are even less people who can work in future This can not only have a knock on effect on the communities and families but on the country itself also by widening the development gap It widens the development gap by...

Countries with expectancy tend to have a poor health service meaning that there is already global development gap present, However low life expectancy can widen this global development gap and therefore make things worse As there will be less people of working age the countries economy will fall, and as this is a factor in development, the gap will widen Also, because of the same reason, the government will have less money and will not be able to spend money on improving the health facilities Therefore the life expectancy will not rise and therefore the global development gap will continue to widen.

10. Low Standard Of Living…

Low standard of Living is to do with economic wellbeing It is measured by a persons job, house and possessions but does not mean that a person who has a low standard of living is unhappy ( has a low quality of life ) People with a low standard of life have a poorly paid job, not many possessions, or those of low value and a unsatisfying house that doesn’t fit their, or their families needs Low standard of living can be linked to poverty, however poverty can define a community not just a person, whereas standard of living defines just a person or their family This can not only have a knock on effect on the family, but on society too...

People who have a low standard of living do not have enough money to get food for themselves or their loved ones They may also find it hard in some countries where these things are not free to get clean water or good health care, This leads to more deaths from common diseases, some of which could be contagious, which could cause a disease to spread throughout a whole community Also, for countries where most of the people have a low standard of living, there will be a lower life expectancy and a high death rate, meaning the country will also have problems associated with low life expectancy as well as those connected to low standard of living Low standard of living can also lead to global development gaps widening

This makes global inequalities worse (the global development gets wider) because the death rate will become high and therefore there will be less people to help the countries economy grow The country will therefore not be receiving money and businesses will be forced to pay even lower wages, causing standard of living to worsen, and inequalities show even more between each individual country This also means that the government will not have enough money to spend on improving peoples standard of living, wether it be by improving there homes or whatever, meaning people will continue to have a low standard of living, and global inequalities will become worse and even more prominent
