economic retribution and the taste of a meal obtained through labor. Some of the

17. Moral Profile
1. Respect. To myself, my family and to the society to which I belong. From a different
point of view, I understand respect as the absence of my influence in others' status and
decisions.
2. Freedom. Always respecting value 1. I indeed assume that freedom is limited by the
boundaries of external rationality. This implies recognizing that I don't have the right to
benefit nor harm others by forcefully influencing their decisions. Proper exercise of my
liberty leads me to externalize thoughts and decisions to others allowing them to
criticize, accept or reject them. In a similar fashion, I consider myself in the position to
criticize, accept or reject other people's points of view and decisions.
3. Peace. Always respecting values 1 and 2. I believe violence is inherent to human beings,
as well as subject of control when it stands before rationality. However, I think violence
is justified when freedom or respect become compromised. It is simply not possible to
live in absence of values 1 and 2, and this is when violence plays a defensive role for the
higher values.
1. Respeto. Dirigido a mi persona, a mi familia y a la sociedad de la que formo parte. Desde
otro punto de vista, para mí el respeto significa la ausencia de influencia propia en los
estados y decisiones ajenos.
2. Libertad. Sin quebrantar el valor 1. En efecto asumo que el límite de la libertad está
marcado por el respeto ante la racionalidad ajena. Esto implica reconocer que no tengo
derecho a beneficiar ni a perjudicar a otros si esto conlleva influir por fuerza en sus
decisiones. Ejercer mi libertad significa entonces exponer mis pensamientos y decisiones
a otros dejándoles en posición de criticarlos, aceptarlos o rechazarlos. Del mismo modo
me considero en posición de criticar, aceptar o rechazar los puntos de vista y decisiones
de los demás.
3. Paz. Sin quebrantar los valores 1 ni el 2. Creo que la violencia es inherente al ser
humano, y que también es sujeto de sumisión ante la racionalidad. Sin embargo me
parece que la violencia es justificable cuando se quebrantan la libertad, el respeto o
ambos. Simplemente no es posible convivir socialmente en ausencia de los valores 1 y 2,
y es cuando la violencia funciona en un sentido defensivo de las jerarquías más altas.
