2. What It Means to Be Healthy?
Being socially healthy: the ability to comfortably interact with others and respect
others as well as respecting yourself (Board of Studies NSW, 2007).
Being mentally healthy: having strong confidence and positive self esteem and
perception, strong coping methods and stable emotions. (Board of Studies NSW,
2007).
Being physically healthy : where an individual's body is in good condition through
regular physical activity and exercise, as well as nutrition. (Board of Studies NSW,
2007).
Being spiritually healthy: having a direction to your approach in life through
meaning and morality and Feeling connected with the community . (Board of
Studies NSW, 2007). ound you.

important to be
healthy?
You develop
good
relationships
with communities
and individuals
around you.
Being healthy
extends your life
and prevents you
from illness.
Your mind copes
with stress more
effectively, and
you have a
positive attitude
towards your
self.
You see how your
life has a
direction and a
purpose and you
feel motivated.
When you are
healthy you have
more control
over choices and
decisions that
you make.
Improves your
physical abilities
and breaks
through
limitations, as
well as other life
abilities.

children’s health and development. A child's health and wellbeing depends
on what happens to them as individuals, as part of a family, as members of
communities and within Australian society as a whole.
There is sound evidence that prevention initiatives early in life are highly
effective. Prevention, early detection and early intervention with respect to
health, education and social problems can improve outcomes for children.”

plays a vital role in improving the health of many people.
5. What PDHPE is Does In Improving
Health in students?
Teaches self value and the value of others.
Shows how to develop good relationships with
others
Encourages physical activity.
Promotes healthy eating.
Raises awareness of the safety and danger in the
environments surrounding them.
Identifies the different drug, sex and alcohol
effects towards health and gives students the
opportunity to make more informed and responsible
choices and decisions when encountering these
influences.
