Kenacort tablets are used for alleviating the
joint pain, swelling and stiffness associated with
rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthrosis, with an
inflammatory component; also for bursitis,
epicondylitis, and tenosynovitis.
Where sustained systemic corticosteroid
treatment is required: Allergic states, e.g.
bronchial asthma, seasonal or perennial allergic
rhinitis.
In seasonal allergies, patients who do not
respond to conventional therapy could achieve a
remission of symptoms with this medicine.

Triamcinolone oral tablets are also used for
treating Endocrine disorders, Collagen
disorders, Dermatological diseases, as an
adjunctive, short-term therapy for treating
Rheumatic, Gastrointestinal or Respiratory
disorders, Haematological disorders, Neoplastic
diseases, Renal disease, such as acute
interstitial nephritis, minimal change nephrotic
syndrome or lupus nephritis.

➢The treating doctor must individualize the dosage
for the patient and the indication under treatment. In
adults and children over 34 kg with the common
diseases amenable to steroid therapy, the usual
initial dose ranges from 8 to 20 mg per day divided
into 3 or 4 doses.
➢When a satisfactory response is obtained, the initial
dose must be reduced gradually by decrements of 2
mg over 2 to 3 days until the smallest dose is
obtained which will adequately maintain the patient.

Oral Tablets ) have to be stored at
controlled room temperature i.e. from
20°C to 25°C (68°F to 77°F) .
Keep this as well as all other medicines
away from children and pets.

Do not receive a live vaccine (eg, measles,
mumps) while you are taking Kenacort oral.
Talk with your doctor before you receive any
vaccine.
Inform your doctor if you have an injury or
notice signs of infection like fever, sore throat,
rash, or chills for up to 12 months after you
stop using Kenacort oral tablets.
Diabetes patients - Kenacort 4mg tablets
may affect your blood sugar. Check blood
sugar levels closely. Ask your doctor before
you change the dose of your diabetes
medicine.

Triamcinolone Acetonide tablets are a long-acting
preparation, and is not suitable for use in acute
stress situations.
Average and large doses of corticosteroids can
cause elevation of blood pressure, salt and
water retention, and increased excretion of
potassium.
Corticosteroids can produce reversible
hypothalamic-pituitary adrenal (HPA) axis
suppression with the potential for
glucocorticosteroid insufficiency after withdrawal of
treatment.
Corticosteroids may affect growth rate in children and
teenagers in some cases. They may need regular
growth checks while they take Kenacort tablets.

Patients who are on corticosteroids are more
susceptible to infections than are healthy
individuals. There may be decreased
resistance and inability to localize infection
when corticosteroids are used.
Administration of live or live, attenuated vaccines
is contraindicated in patients receiving
immunosuppressive doses of corticosteroids.
Chicken pox and measles can have a more
serious or even fatal course in pediatric and
adult patients on corticosteroids.
In pediatric and adult patients who have not had
these diseases, particular care should be
taken to avoid exposure.

Use of corticosteroids may produce posterior
subcapsular cataracts, glaucoma with possible
damage to the optic nerves, and may enhance the
establishment of secondary ocular infections due to
bacteria, fungi, or viruses.
The use of oral corticosteroids is not recommended
in the treatment of optic neuritis and may lead to an
increase in the risk of new episodes.
Corticosteroids should not be used in active ocular
herpes simplex.

Contraindications
Kenacort tablets are contraindicated in patients
with a hypersensitivity to Triamcinolone
Acetonide or any other component of this
medication.
Kenacort tablets are also contraindicated in
patients with Acute psychosis; ocular herpes
simplex, fungal or viral infections for which
adequate anti-infective therapy is lacking;
untreated acute or chronic infection, including
tuberculosis.

➢Inform your doctor immediately if any of these
unlikely but serious Kenacort side effects occur: bone
pain, easy bruising/bleeding, black stools, vomit that
looks like coffee grounds, severe stomach or
abdominal pain, increased thirst or urination, fast /
pounding / irregular heartbeat, shortness of breath,
swelling of the ankles / feet, persistent weight gain,
puffy face, unusual hair growth, thinning skin, slow
wound healing, signs of infection (e.g., persistent
fever / cough / sore throat, painful urination, eye
pain / discharge), muscle weakness / pain,
mental/mood changes (e.g., mood swings,
depression, agitation, confusion), vision changes,
seizures, unusual skin growths.

The symptoms of glucocorticoid overdose
including Kenacort Oral (Triamcinolone
Acetonide tablets) may include confusion,
anxiety, depression, gastrointestinal
cramping or bleeding, ecchymois, moon
face and hypertension. After long-term use,
rapid withdrawal could result in acute
adrenal insufficiency (which can also occur
in times of stress). Cushingoid changes
can result from continued use of large
doses.

There is no specific treatment for
Kenacort tablets overdose, but supportive
therapy should be instituted and, in case
gastrointestinal bleeding occurs, it should
be managed.

Triamcinolone Acetonide tablets (Kenacort)
has been classified by the US FDA as
Pregnancy Category C.
Controlled studies with animals in which
corticosteroids have been given to
pregnant mice, rats, and rabbits have
yielded an increased incidence of cleft
palate in the offspring. There are no
adequate and well-controlled studies
in pregnant women.

Corticosteroids should be used during pregnancy
only if the potential benefit justifies the potential
risk to the fetus.
Infants born of mothers who have received
substantial doses of corticosteroids during
pregnancy should be observed carefully for signs
of hypoadrenalism.
Systemically administered corticosteroids appear
in human milk and could suppress growth,
interfere with endogenous corticosteroid
production, or cause other untoward effects.
Caution should be exercised when corticosteroids
are administered to a nursing woman.
