4 Golden SEO Rules to Live By

Want to know what the most important SEO rules are? That’s a very subjective
answer. SEO isn’t something that’s easy to crack. It takes effort, trial, error,
patience, and it often seems to take blood, sweat, and tears, too. It can be worth it.
The cost of not doing SEO is greater than the cost of doing it when you manage to
achieve good results.

Here are a few rules that we think will help you ensure you maximise your ability to
succeed with search engine optimisation with Google and other big search
engines.

   1. Think about the visitor you’re targeting when creating each page of your site.
      It’s common for companies trying to succeed with SEO to carefully work in all
      the recommended SEO elements but it doesn’t matter how much traffic you
      manage to attract if you can’t convert that traffic into profit due to poor
      content. Visitor experience matters and doing it with a quality mindset is a
      win-win situation. It matters to you and it matters to the likes of Google.
      Google will look at how people react when they land on your page. A high
      ‘bounce’ rate will cost you rankings you’ve worked hard to get. A good
      reaction to your content will net you even more traffic as Google sees that
      people get what they were looking for. Think like a customer while planning
      for SEO for each page of your site and you’ll probably see better results than
      the vast majority of website owners who put keyword density first.
   2. Keep in mind that it’s not just about you; it’s about your ‘friends’,
      too. Who Google associates as being related to you is important. If you are
      associated with a good crowd of websites, you’ll have a bit of credibility. If
      Google feels your site participates with unsavoury sites, you’ll lose it.
      Carefully consider where you link to and where you accept links from.
   3. Remember that search engines index pages. It’s not just your home page
      that matters. Every page on your site has the potential to be an entry way for
      more customers and more SEO success. Create plenty of high quality and
      well-optimised content on a regular basis to give search engines plenty of
      opportunities to see what your site is about. Every page that can be crawled
      could propel your success forward.

4. There are no concrete hard and fast SEO rules. Not really. This means that
      as soon as you think you know what’s what, there will probably be a change.
      It’s all about recommendations, best practises, and user experience. Your
      success relies on the general search engine algorithm elements, yes, but it
      also relies on how competitive your industry is, how you perform on social
      media, who else links to you, and so on. If you make sure you are well
      prepared for continuous education and ongoing sites improvements then
      you will have a better chance of figuring out what it takes to succeed with
      search engine optimisation.

If you want to succeed with your website, SEO is something you will need to
continually live and breathe. It’s a tall order --- particularly if you are in a
competitive industry and your competition is working hard at SEO success, too. If
you haven’t got a whole lot of time to devote to search engine optimisation, work
with a solid SEO company who follows SEO best practises and who operates
ethically.
