Tamara Williams<br />EDCI 340-01<br />Solim Song, Instructor<br />April 9, 2011<br />Product Assignment 4: Web 2.0 Tools<br />Web 2.0 tools are new technologies used to enhance internet’s abilities when creating an active and engaging learning experience for students. Its facet of uses also provides a wide range of opportunities for teachers when constructing curriculum and content frameworks relevant to subjects. By using Web 2.0, tools such as slideshare teachers and students gain the ability to collaborate and interact on projects. The content developed by teachers can be publicly and privately share among students and other professionals. Students have the ability to use various technologies and documents to conduct research, construct presentations, and exhibit their educational abilities and interest.<br />These resources for teachers and students offer services that are for both teaching and learning. Students develop skills to critically analyze information that comes from multiple sources creating higher thinking skills. Furthermore, this creates new patterns of learning at every grade level. This group of new practices among computers and teachers promote greater communication and interaction in the classroom. The exchange of new information produces knowledge otherwise traditionally developed by experts and teachers. Traditional informational sources such as the encyclopedia, magazines, newspaper, and textbooks are enhanced by using Web 2.0 tools. Accessing tools such as slideshare offers opportunities to communicate worldwide. The goal of education is to get information from multiple sources both traditional and electronic sources to enhance learning and teaching for students and teachers. Electronic sources such as Blogs, Wikis, Podcasts, and social networking sites are all Web 2.0 tools that are capable of incorporating on a slideshare board to accommodate different learning styles in the classroom. These Web 2.0 tools also offer the engaging and large range of instructional opportunities for teachers.<br />This Web 2.0 tool offers a enormous amount of capabilities to incorporate different coexisting media files such as presentation, Microsoft Office documents, PDFs, video, and webinars. The slide share deck also allows teachers to add YouTube videos to create a visual learning experience for students. It is capability to synchronize electronic sources such as Facebook, LinkedIn, and Xing allows you to upload and take information everywhere. It also offers Zipcast and resources that allows teachers to conduct online meetings with students at 1-click. Zipcast contains slides, video, audio, and chat.<br />Slideshare multi facets include its ability to function as a communication tools both privately between my students and between teachers (myself). Scientific research conducted using slideshare to interact with professional’s worldwide creating beneficial exchange of knowledge and information. I also plan to use slideshare as a media resource for creating varying learning environments with a range of classes to insure exceptional learning opportunities and experiences.<br />
