21. Green IT and Greening by IT
The Green IT Project is also aimed at
Promoting and deploying ICT in other
sectors stimulating the “Greening by IT”.
One example that appealed to participants
is the use of thin clients in combination with
glass fiber, virtualization/Grid technology
and energy-efficient datacenters to realize
high energy savings.
Supercomputing and broadband will
also help decrease the CO2 footprint of
other sectors
