6. Pre-clinical years
• Foundation Year (FY) approx 180 students
• Junior Cycle (JC) approx 300 students (some start
directly into Junior Cycle)
– JC 1: semester 1 (exams after
Christmas)
– JC 2: semester 2 (exams in summer)
– JC 3: 1st
semester of the following year

7. Clinical years
• Intermediate Cycle 2nd
semester following JC 3
+ 1 more year
• Senior Cycle 1 & 2 2 further years
