WHY Q?
I have decided to research the magazine ‘Q’ as I have decided to use ‘Q’ as my
inspiration piece for my magazine. Also, this magazine is highly successful and
has been around for many years.

FACTS + FIGURES
•‘Q’ is publish monthly
•First published in October of 1986
•Priced at around £3.90
•Targets audience of the older generation (30+) who have a passion for music
•Published and distributed my Bauer Media
•The brand has expanded through other media platforms such as ‘Q Radio’ and the ‘Q’
music channel. They also hold a yearly award ceremony- ‘The Q Awards’
•Was originally going to be called ‘Cue’ (for “cue the music!”) but was soon changed as
there could be possible confusion with the magazine being a snooker magazine
•Mark Ellen and David Hepworth founded the magazine as a magazine aimed for the
older generation who were still buying CD’s- as at the time there were no magazines
aimed at this generation
•The magazine had/has very high standards of photography and printing
•The total circulation is 80,418
•The current editor is Andrew Harrison
•Uses a strict red, white and black colour scheme throughout its publications
