This document provides information about a Duke Energy program called Envision: Charlotte that aims to reduce energy usage and greenhouse gas emissions in Charlotte's Uptown area. The program will install smart meters and digital displays to track community-wide energy usage. Buildings can opt into the program by signing agreements and allowing displays to be installed. Duke Energy representatives will contact building participants over the next few months to finalize sign-ups and installation plans starting in summer 2011.

Speaker: Charles Thanks Gianna First let me say that this is quite an exciting effort to be a part of. This is a commitment and I believe it is one the entire community is excited about and will produce a lot of positive results The plan is to work with you as we go through this process. We don’t have all the answers yet but I think it is important that everyone understand that nobody expects decisions to be made just for sustainability - we support making sound business decisions in regards to energy efficiency. ……………………. As Gianna mentioned, This is a community goal, not an individual building goal. We recognize that Charlotte real estate has some of the best-run and managed properties anywhere and that they continue to improve. Some buildings will have greater efficiency opportunities than others – but all improvements will accrue towards the community goal. ........ your data will remain private and secure and will only be pooled together with all of the other buildings to create a near-real-time average that will be shared with the community. At no time will your data be shared with anyone.…………. working in partnership with other participants to share successes and lessons learned. We believe that this makes the whole greather than the sum of the parts Some of the smaller buildings will have an opportunity to benefit as remember over ½ the buildings are less than 100,000 sq. ft and down to 10,000 sq. ft. This is an opportunity to be a leader.
Speaker: Charles Cisco interactive – size to be finalized (refer to screen setup) Enclosure /stand/frame still TBD determined. We will want a common look so as people move throughout the city they become recognizable……….. We will work with each building owner to determine where the display should go. We want your commitment to put it in a high traffic area but we respect that it will need to go in a place that works for you.…………. There will be no advertising of products or services– period. I know this has been brought up a concern As for what is one the screen, It has to be exciting enough that people will want ot look at these more than once. At this time there has not been a final decision made as to how the screen layout will be defined. Review the layout of the screen – EE, City info, possible building info. There may be an opportunity for individual buildings to post information on a section of the screen – that will be determined in early 2011. It will never be a requirement so I want to be clear that we do not want to add any burden to your staff – it may just be available to those that want it Also note that we do plan on putting some external kiosks up throughout the city – locations and exact product TBD We also Plan on an interactive component on the web and mobile apps to support.
