I have been a self employed capitán of shrimp or deep sea fishing boats since 1975. Over the years picked up skills from welding, cable splicing, carpeta, net mending, Electrician, self taught topographic cartographer, etc. I have to say teacher. I teach basic navigation, basic seamanship and how to maintain eng. Hydraulics everything to keep boat at sea to 6 Honduran grade inexperienced.
