Provide detailed descriptions from chosen examples that establish…
Clearly state what production technique(s) you think have
been used to create specific soundtrack elements
Setting
The sound echoes which make it seem like it’s in a cave setting. The sound of distant
rumbling implies that there could be running water or a large creature further on. In
the background, though it is quite faint. You can hear the sound of rocks and gravel
being crushed under something large.
The echo will have been made with digital editing
software.
The rumbling sound will most likely have been
recorded in the field, deep in a cave system.
The rocks and gravel could have been either
recorded or edited
Mood
Occasionally there is a deep rumbling sound which, since at the time you cant tell
what it is, raises the tension. The way the woman in the cut scene is speaking
makes the player feel optimistic.
The rumbling sound could have been recorded
underground or edited from a different sound.
The speech would have been recorded In a studio.
Game genre
When the creature roars at the end it gives a sense of the creature being huge and
dangerous this implies an action, war or horror but the voice over gives a comedy
feel to the game.
The roar could be an edited wild animal’s roar
such as a lion. The voice will have been recorded
in a studio.
Narrative
The woman’s dialogue adds a comedy aspect to the scene because of how fast she
speaks and the way she explains the situation.
It will have been recorded in a studio but it might
also have been sped up with editing software
