  1. Good Afternoon, guys! Thank you so much for letting me attend your marketing meeting today – Susan thank you so much for having me! Prof. Rozenscher, thank you for inviting me...Just want to let you guys know that if you have any questions during the presentation, please ask – the slides are more structured, but would definitely love to have some discussion
  2. In my spare time, I am a beauty and luxury goods social media marketing expert and do freelance social media consulting for various brands. I’m also a fashion and beauty blogger + the founder of a resource that teaches beauty bloggers how to turn beauty blogging into a profession... I tell you guys this because I want you to understand that it’s very possible to wear many hats and use the internet to do whatever it is that you love – we’ll get into that a bit more later...
  3. - Plus Dr. Nyre’s Pages, Admissions pages, Grad Admissions Pages, Department blogs and facebook accounts and student group facebooks...Our Youtube, etc. - Every social media account starts with a Goal - are these the right places to be?
  4. The biggest change in marketing during the advent of social media is that there is now no more interrupting. As we’ve been advertised to our entire lives, we tune out the advertisements that enter as interruptions (radio, tv and magazine ads)...With the internet, we create websites that allow potential customers to find us when they’re actively searching for us AND we can create brand personality and further engage our clients. It’s a whole new way of “selling”...

Social Media Manager - went over that Content Marketer - finding ways to communicate to prospects without active ‘pitching or selling’ Community Manager - Finding ways to engage your community, activate your brand ambassadors, etc. Blogger - Blogging for companies that have implemented a content marketing strategy Digital Public Relations - Outreach to digital news and media outlets with company/brand news Analytics - Extracting analytic data from social networks and websites and using it to drive strategies and measure impact Digital Marketer - Online ad placement, targeted social ads Web Design & Development - Developing blogs, coding for brands, etc. Multimedia Production Manager - producing videos, podcasts, and ebooks for companies/brands
  6. How I learned about Social! HubSpot is the first inbound marketing firm - rather than doing outbound marketing and taking the chance for people to block out your advances, “inbound marketing” helps you get found by the people that are looking for you on the web! Through SEO, blogging, keyword query research, and social media - Marketo - Complete marketing automation system, but they have great white papers, blog, etc. - Social Media Examiner - One of the more popular social media tutorial sites - #SocialMedia hashtag collects the conversations that people are having around the world about social media...many of them are industry professionals...and you can learn a lot from the things they share - Try it!
  7. - Don’t try and do it all - there are many roles to fill in social and trying to be a jack of all trades could be a downfall... - Create a blog for the industry you want to be in - now that the internet is here, bloggers are the new celebrities - blogging in your industry puts you in front of anyone else so take advantage of it! - in fact in the future, everyone at some point is going to have to become a freelancer or outsource certain services - get involved in anythign you want to get involved in - for instance, i love fashion and the beauty industry so i work and blog specifically about social media for those industries. In addition, I also run a fashion and beauty blog and a blog that talks about how to become a professional beauty blogger. You can position yourself as anything on the internet which means that you can really become anything possible!
