2. Here are a some myths about skin cancer that you need to

cancer. Before you go out into the sun you should
consider these myths and facts:
Tanning Beds are Safer than the Sun
Studies indicate that tanning beds may be worse than
going out into the sun. Some research indicates that 20
minutes of exposure in a tanning bed is roughly equivalent
to four hours in the sun. Tanning beds also use UVA rays
versus UVB rays and some research indicates that UV-A
actually penetrates deeper into the skin than UV-B. This
can increase the risk of skin cancer and weaken the
body's immune system.

3. Wearing Sunscreen at the Beach is Protection

Of course wearing sunscreen at the beach is protection
but you also need to consider other situations when you
need to be protected. The first is on cloudy days. Studies
indicate that about 85 percent of UV rays can even make it
through on cloudy days and this means they can still do
damage. You are also at risk anytime you are outside like
in the car, walking the dog or letting your children out to
play at any time of year - even when you're not at the
beach. You will also find that sunscreen will wear off with
sweat and water and should always be applied every
couple hours or after getting wet.

hazards of being out in the sun.
